Tranceairwaves radio closed!!!:(

Very sad news for all the fans and listeners of the popular online radiostation TranceAirWaves. On the official website can be read that the administrators decided to close the station.

Here is the whole text that can be found on the TranceAirWaves website:


Dear Listeners / Members / DJs

It is with great regret that the TranceAirWaves staff announce the closure of the station.

TranceAirWaves has in the last 2 years, in our and many other opinions, been one of the best Trance radio stations on the web. This does, however, come at a price; a price we can no longer afford as license fees and bandwidth costs continue to rise, it is now no longer enonomically viable to keep the station online.

We would like to thank ALL of our listeners and DJs, DJ Agencies, and sponsors for making TranceAirWaves a huge success, a success we did not anticipate when we came up with the idea almost 2 years ago. Be assured that the staff have tried all they can to find a way to keep the station online, yet have not found a reliable solution.

For a few weeks the forums and chat room will remain online but our streaming servers, and encoders will switch off at 12:00am on 23rd November 2004.

Once again, we thank you for making the station a huge success, with a little luck we will find a way to sustain such costs and return even better in the future, so for now, thank you, and farewell.

I am sorry to hear that. I am also sorry for John aka Kuffdam one of the owners of TranceAirWaves who signed in recently to our forum. Cost of bandwidth is indeed fatal when you are a non-for-profit website. Although this can be covered by proper banners, but sometimes you cant find sponsors/proper ads easily.

Hi there guys

We are working with a few new people to try and do something on the site for the next few months. We will keep you posted on the developments.

The situation at the moment is that the running costs are as follows
Servers - $299 per month x 3
Bandwidth Overages per month - $2,000 - $3,000
Licensing Charges - $7-10,000

Its a lot of money for a site that doesn't run on profit....

Who knows what we will do with it...
