Trance.nu shutting down

After 12 years, tens of millions of unique visitors, thousands of articles and million upon millions of topics it’s time for trance.nu to finally be put to it’s last rest. It’s not an easy decision to take, but its something that has to be done to preserve the good memory that hopefully all of you have of trance.nu.

The reasoning behind this is due to the lack of time to maintain the site and that the site need a complete restart to gain its former glory. A task that unfortunately is to big to undertake within a reasonable amount of time and effort. We all sincerely wish that we could revert time but unfortunately this is the position that we’re at.

Its been a fantastic ride which we’re sure that no one will regret, we’ve released CDs, sailed the sevens seas on the trance.nu summer boat, we saw and helped djs rise, we’ve seen (and maybe helped) users fall in love and join each other in holy matrimony, we’ve spread trance to every corner of the world but more importantly we made friends, loads of good friend – friendships that will last for a lifetime.

For that we are eternally grateful and would wish to thank every single one of you, keep in mind that you made the site the success it was, not us.
We will apply a technique call sundown when shutting down the site which means that the forums have been put on read-only which the ability to log-in, sign guest books and send PMs will remain for another 2 weeks.

This is to give a users a fair chance to hook up on alternative networks and/or sites to keep in touch. When the time is up we will disable the login-system and keep the site as an cemetery/archive for the time being.

With that, this is the end – the final chapter, the last good bye and the chance for us to tell you all which fantastic time we’ve had together. Thank you for everything and hopefully we’ll all stay in touch one way or another.

People keep saying that Trance is dead, or at least dying. BUT it looks like people who organize those events are killing it!!! Where the fuck are those loyal Tranceheads?!?! Bring in the House? Techno?.............

Fuck that shit, my dream was to attend TE, now E alone won't be the same anymore. My dream was to attend Sensation White, but the last few years it got bloody housier than ever before!!! Fuck all those organizers!!!!!!!!!!!! And the lineup of TRANCE ENERGY 2011 looks more tranzy than ever before...

It was good while it lasted. I enjoyed posting there but there were tons of douchebags coming in and out of the forum. The initial stages of the website were simply awesome. Seeing guys like Ferry, Matt Darey, Airwave, Solarstone, and many more post there was just an experience. It became almost like a virtual culture.

Nonetheless, they couldn't control/monitor it anymore. People grew up and got busy.

Regarding Trance Energy becoming just Energy . The officials at ID&T hasve said that its only a name change , not music change . Marketing and PR move , it has nothing to do with the music , and the line up will remain mostly trance at this event !

Why are we uptight about the whole trance/house thingie? This was bound to happy at some point. We talk about how awesome trance can become when fused with different genres, yet we cannot accept events fusing their DJs together under 1 night? If anything, I think this is a great idea. At least for them LOL.

I honestly believe that events around the world will turn to this style very soon. Now it's Europe and a bit of the US. So let's just accept it and move on instead of complaining OKAY KAMIL?

Man, if there is one thing many people in the trance industry don't have, it's acceptance. I feel you all for being disappointed but frankly nothing is going to change. Just accept it and attend those events to see the DJs you like. Wallahi it won't hurt! I know various people who wouldn't go to these events because "omg it's trance and house at the same time!". Seriously kefaya with all these complaints and move on. Don't hate me for this guys, but frankly who gives a shit what we say? Even if it is a marketing thing, is it affecting you? Nope. Not unless you're a shareholder of the trance community lol.

As for t.nu and TA, I honestly think that forums will come to an end very soon. Social networking took over properly! This is only due to the fact that the internet has become a rapid world. Not many people can sit more than few minutes to read long reviews or discussions and type back replies. They will choose to update their statuses on FB or post a new pic of DailyBooth or follow a new member on Twitter. It all goes down to how people accept it even though there are various memories tied to those hubs.

I for once think its a great thing that big events are putting all sorts of EDM in their line up ! I for one would prefer to listen to house and then trance , dont like to stay with either all night long . Its actually better to have such diversity at big events and festivals . At the end of the day , just go see the act you are interested in . And maybe you will wind up discovering a new sound that you never thought would interest you !!

As for social networking ,it is taking over all means of communication , and i agree that forums will surely come to an end soon ... although i still refuse to join facebook and twitter ... !!

ok this tend to go way way off topic.. but what the heck!!

i personally think facebook is like forums but for morons!! sorry if i offended anyone but all i can see on facebook is ppl posing in pics like retards, stupid statuses that mostly show off ones egos or simply a sad depressant case of electronic diaries (i just woke up, my arse is scraching me, i just ate sushi, i just crapped the left of the sushi..) although it might be fun to check on long distance friends or check (and laugh) on some pics/statuses.. it rarely can come close to any debate/discussion that can takes place in a forum where ppl do exchange idea and discuss specific topics with specified like-minded peeps..
unfortunately this becoming obsolete and mindless ratting is getting more and more popular!

on a side note am going to see glenn morrisson/markus schulz/armin tonight in an event that will end at 2 AM!! not sure how things would go but i already feel 2 DJs might be leaving Qatar not as happy as they came in!

I agree with you to an extent about facebook . Its definetly something that is NOT for me also . Its enough that my friends and fiance convinced me to switch to Blackberry last year ! Took them 6 months and a BB gift to actually make me switch !

Wow , those 3 Djs and a 2 am curfew ! That sounds like such a tight schedule ! I am interested to hear how it went , please let me know !

musically it was awesome though very short (around 1:30 mns per set) but organization was crap! not so many ppl showed up and more than half of them were in fact drinking away from the stage (since for some weird reason they split the place were ppl can get drinks from the stage, so you end up having many ppl enjoying drinking elsewhere where no music can be reached nor any dj would see them!)
