^ or stick to the genre that i like the most for the simple reason that i tried other edm genres in the past decade and they didn't have any (house, electro), some (tech-trance) or little (techno) effect on me  I even went outside of the edm pool just to see if i have a wide musical taste, the result wasn't better :P Like everyone else I look for what brings the maximum of happiness and I found it concerning music. I have a narrow taste and I don't regret it. Others have a wider taste and enjoy other genres. It's good and I respect that.
You sound like my mom yesterday  she told me almost the same thing, to simply listen to other music genres. I don't mind listening to piano and guitar concerts, but there's no way i'll jump in the house pool of the frenchies and not feel well everytime i listen to a track. I replied by saying that i listen to what brings me joy and lets me escape from this world, not to what hurts my ears and takes me to hell
It's all about tastes (which are an inner thing and can't be changed), and people's different tastes aren't a topic open for discussion (I know some who agree with me on that matter ). I'm not discussing now about people's tastes, I'm just saying my point of view. Unfortunately I have to repeat myself to everyone who talks to me about tastes.
So no, I won't get educated in house music for my own sake and i won't enjoy the french scene (which i witnessed btw on New Year's Eve while lebanese ravers were partying on the rhythm of Cosmic Gate Image)

With all due respect to house fans!

Everything is the matter of taste. I love almost every EDM genre. But I must have applicable atmosphere and mood. You know.. when i'm at home at thursday evening I like to listen GDJB and ASOT.. but at the parties I love tech - trance, hard - trance, electro :D:D:D and even prog - house.. It's matter of taste and matter of mood.. When I'm sad I like to listen melodic, chilly vocal trance and maybe cry a little.. but when I'm full of energy with amazing good mood I turn on my PC and listen very loud tech - trance and electro all day long! We have a pharse in Poland : There are tastes and tasties and about taste there's no discussion.
So Trancer1084 You have a few solutions
1. Stay at home and listen what you like
2. Go out with some good friends and listen what are playing atm in this place
3. Make some own party at some club.. or somethin'
4. Or just looking for parties with music which is in your style..
And i think this is a piece of advice for everyone :)
