GLOBAL CONNECTION PARTY 4 w/ DINKY (Chile – Electro, Minimal)

DINKY BIO:
-------------
Alejandra Iglesias aka Dinky was born in Santiago de Chile. At early age she studied piano and keyboards. At the age of 14 she joined the Espiral conservatory of Dance. In her dancing years she became involved with many musicians, took drum lessons, music theory and composition. At the same time her older sister was living in Berlin, thanks to her and Dandy Jack (Sieg Uber Die Sonne), her sisters boyfriend, she was introduced to the world of electronic music, Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin and Plastikman to name a just a few, were the first ones to get her attention.
In 1994 Dinky decided to visit her sister in Berlin where she visited clubs like E-werk and Tresor, and heard DJs like Hell, Sven Vaeth, Stacey Pullen and others. In Berlin she got fascinated by the world of Techno, clubs, music and DJs and bought her first records at the Hardwax store.
Back in Chile she asked her friend to teach her to DJ and quickly managed herself to mix records and started opening up for him at parties. In 1994 Dinky also met Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Atom Heart and the rest of the posse. She was a regular in the Santiago Techno scene until a couple of years later, when she decided to move to New York to continue her studies in Dance.
In New York she joined the Martha Graham School of Dance. At the same time she was going out to parties and met people from the NY Night scene. Only after a couple of months she got her first DJ residency and with very little experience she started making a name in the NYC scene. That same year she got interested in making music, got together with her friend Jorge Gonzales (singer of Sieg Uber Die Sonne and biggest Pop Star in Chile) who was living in NYC. Together they made a song, the beginning of a new world and career for Dinky.
In 1999 after playing at almost every bar and club in NYC she decided to buy a MPC 2000 and started composing her first music. After 6 months she got signed to the German label Traum, where she released several EPs, remixes and an album CD.
After the fall of the twin towers she started her own party and Afterhours, created one of the hottest parties in town joining forces with Madga (M-nus).
In 2002, after touring the US with Miss Kittin, Dinky started working on her new album Black Cabaret; the mirror of her life in NYC. Due to a bureaucratic problem with her visa Dinky had to leave NYC very fast, had to cancel her US tour. Leaving friends and past behind was not easy.
In 2003 Dinky moved to Berlin and has not stopped touring ever since.
Hit single “Acid in My Fridge” was released on Cocoon records in 2004, the Single, a big success, was a top seller and soon got licensed to Ministry Of Sound and Mixer Magazine UK to name a few. This was another milestone of her rising career.
In 2005 Alejandra was the image of the Cocoon Ibiza season 2005, together with Sven Vaeth, Miss Kittin and Ricardo Villalobos. She was strongly supported by Sven Vaeth, mixing the Cocoon CD for the summer Ibiza season 2005 and in 2006 will mix the Partysan Thai Break CD.
Dinky has a very busy schedule as a DJ and live act, traveling around the world playing clubs and festivals. When she is not on the road she is working in the studio, on remixes or enjoys life in Berlin with her friends.
At the moment Dinky is working on her third album where she collaborates again with Jorge Gonzales as a singer. She is also remixing other artists and has just started her own label Horizontal , which will bring her music more independency and freedom.
