Concerning the music, I think from my current stand as a trance fan I'll get to be somehow harsh towards what was played yesterday as for me it lacked energy and melodies.. The whole sound that was played by Jimmy Van M and John Digweed was almost monotonous except for a few tracks that had some different basslines and were a lil faster in BPM. It is to be said though that clubbers last night were enjoying there time and having a blast, as for us hardcore trancers, well thankfully there was AMADEUS who pulled a great afterhour set and gave more color to the sound that was played during the night..
One thing to be said about the music though, it's really sad that no1 seems to listen nor care about our screams and requests regarding sound quality… as usual the bass was so dominant that melodies were barely heard, and no vocals at all managed to go further than the DJ monitors.. am not sure if the idea is to compensate more speakers with increasing the bass ratio. I only know that I felt really annoyed about this especially when AMADEUS started to play and it amazed me that NONE of the vocals were heard and most of the melodies were barely heard.. it's kinda funny that after shutting down the main speakers and leaving only the monitors, melodies were then heard clearer than when the full speakers were all working..
The greatest fact of last night was the eager clubbers that gathered at The Warehouse, ppl literally refused to leave! It was almost 6:30 and ppl just went on screaming for more!! And when speakers were turned off, ppl kept on dancing at the sound of the monitors bursting from the DJ booth where AMADEUS was pounding a track after another!!
Going back to the organization, things went on smooth though a few things would’ve been better like the sound problem.. also the DEEP ROOM should’ve been better, it was more of an inside tent than another room, the place lacked any sort of sound isolators to prevent sound collisions between the 2 sets played inside and outside as half way through the Deep Room (which was somehow smaller than expected..) music was head from both places which caused a huge trainwreck and music collisions.. Also, the place was very hot when crowded and I heard that a few technical probs occurred with Gunther and Stamina that were out of their hands (one of them occurred while I personally was there when the power just went off!) tough luck for the guys and hopefully next time their set would go easier and trouble free..
Personally, yesterday I had reached saturation after a couple of hours into Digweed set and had to have something more.. something faster, something more energetic! Thankfully there’s someone called AMADEUS who managed when taking over, to take things a little bit further and the journey continued from almost 5 (when Digweed ended his set) till 06:40 when the music was stopped and ppl kept screaming for more!!
I checked the Deep Room a few times, personally I think the music played there was somehow even better than digweed’s as Gunther and Stamina managed to play a few interesting house tracks with good variations and beautiful melodies.
In conclusion I made a few Advantages Vs. Disadvantages concerning the event last night.
Advantages:
- Huge clubbing spot that’s very close to almost everyone yet private and somehow isolated..
- Good organization concerning handling tickets and entry at the doors.
- Beautiful setup / lazers
- Huge crowd interactions
Disadvantages:
- SOUND SOUND SOUND!! (the everlasting complain that finds no ears to listen!!)
- Paying more attention to the second room (when existed) in term of separation, and sound set up and making sure both sounds don’t get mixed that easily between the 2 rooms.
- Making the second room away from the main set (if possible) and not locating it at the front as ppl will find trouble reaching it when crowded.
- Smoke machines where sometimes too much adding to it all the smoking, maybe they should be placed differently or perhaps not so frequently used
- Always a long queue on the bathrooms with not enough places for the huge crowd.
- Lights are a powerful too, yet we seem to lack some lighting effects and variations that could add a lot to the whole clubbing experience and give a wonderful look and feeling.
- The lack of trash cans that can somehow decrease the amount of garbage thrown on the dance floor
- More parking space for cars!
finally, i'm sad to have missed maDJam's warm up set, and i really hope that we'll get to c him warming up directly before the main DJ and not that early as i surely believe he deserves it and doesnt lack any traits to be warming up for the biggest DJs in House music!!
Just another major clubbing experience took place on Feb the 18th, 2006!
..until next time!!
