The eastern world has been known for centuries to have a bizarre connection with the number "3": the 3 monotheistic religions emerged from the east, phoenecian and pharaoic architecture is centered around the number "3", and we even kiss 3 kisses on the cheek in Lebanon as a form of salute. Freud elaborated deeply on this matter, but we are not here to talk about psychoanalysis, are we? We sure aren't. In fact, we are here to talk about our second self-organized event - Voyage into Trance II. Why the numerical introduction you may ask? I will answer you:
On August the 5th, 2005, TranceHits.com's Voyage into Trance II gathered 3 times more clubbers than Voyage into Trance I! This is what is refered to in statistical mathematics as an exponential growth. And it doesn't stop here; DJ Amadeus played a 3 hour set like no other, one that truly took us on a voyage into Trance. 3 words are also sufficient to describe this memorable night: UN-FUCKING-FORGETTABLE.
It is way past 4:30 A.M. right now, but I just felt like I had to write the review before I went to my much-needed sleep; something was there, like a splinter in the back of mind, forcing me to speak out on this emotional night.
Us organizers were at X-O.M. at around 6 P.M. to, well, organize! I won't bore you with the technical details (except for the fact that Johnny was kind enough to bring us a Burger King dinner just when we craved for it the most!), but everything was set and ready for DJ Anthony to start his warm-up session, a bit later than expected, but not something to complain about at all. As of 10:30 P.M. clubbers were starting to arrive one after the other. By the time Anthony was done with his warm-up, more than half of the crowd was already filling the club, grooving to the DJ's decent taste in House music. The ambiance was just perfect to welcome the awaited star of the night, the one and only AMADEUS.
He sure teased us long enough before finally taking the decks, but at around 1 A.M., and just when the crowed was pumped up enough to shift to Trance mode, DJ Amadeus took over the cockpit and blasted us through the voyage with an epic intro of a track (the complete tracklist will be posted soon) that sent hands up in the hair and shut our eyes for the complete experience. As of then, things only went from better to best, with Amadeus hammering one progressive track after the other, then pounding one uplifting tune after the next, taking all the tripping passengers on board on a truly unforgettable flight beyond the boundaries of music, above the dimensions of sound, and into the spiritual and emotional depths of the most divine form of music known to man - Trance. A 3-hour-long set combining intoxicating Progressive Trance and elevating Uplifting Trance in what I personally consider as one of our DJ's finest sets to date. Time after time he impresses us with his world-class skills and sets the standards for us rising DJs.
The music had to stop at around 4 A.M., but it still is repeating itself in my mind like a broken record, as I am sure is doing the same in the heads of every true Trance lover who shared this memorable experience with us tonight. As you may have notice in the title of my review, I chose the term "diary" to report the event this time, because I never felt as into the whole image in past events as I have in this particular one, rendering Voyage into Trance II a night to write a diary about, and not just a review.
It's hard to describe the numerous things that happened during the course of things: from people's positive reactions, to not hearing any complaints whatsoever, to the breathtaking visual projections that flowed in harmony with the music, to the huge TranceHits.com banners hung inside the club, to the relentless crowd that shook the grounds of Beirut, to meeting and chatting with TH members that we didn't know so well before, to finally listening to Amadeus' debut single, to the endless laughter that takes place at any event where we meet up, to hasneez getting drunk (Merry Christmas to you too man!), to Steve actually showing up, and finally to the one sad facet of the night - to some TH members missing out.
The sun is rising at this very instant and a continuous flow of ideas is still flooding my thoughts, but were I to give in to this temptation I would never cease to express my sincere feelings of joy after such an experience. Not to mention that I'm in desperate need of rest that I can actually hear the bed-sheets calling my name (or is that the alcohol again?).
Everyone who was there: thank you. It would take me forever to name the people who contributed in making this happen, either by work or by simply showing up and having a great time. But a few names need to be mentioned: Anthony for the spirited warm-up session, PLUR for the generous and unconditional contributions, Shadi for always doing best what he does best, the crew for the solidarity and dedication we have displayed today and during the phase that preceded the event, Alicia & Bassel for making it all the way from Syria just for this, and last but definitely not least: all you TH members that made it to our event, that made it to your event! It was you who we made the event for; it was never about money, it has always been about giving you something in return for what you give us by simply being this great community, and spreading our forum's mission along the way by gaining more exposure. These have always been and will always be our designated goals, and we pledge never to be driven by materialitic aims but to always be about the music and nothing besides in everything we do!
Thank you all for making this a night to remember and cherish, and we look forward in seeing you all in whatever future event we organize.
(please someone from the crew list the names of the members who were present in this space because my brain cells are too damaged to think of even my own screen name)
Until ViT-III mates!
