OK, it was the first time ever a big name dj played a three-hour set in DXB, he played trance for the first 30 or 45 minutes, then for some reason switched to house (Crow, I still need an explanation
), that went on for about an hour or so... The last one or so hour was back to trance, but it wasn't really what I expected, the tracks were outdated, I bet he played many of his classics and other classics which I couldn't ID, but still, I'd expect some sort of good combination between new and old or something, it was more on the 'old' side... I don't know, I'm not the right person perhaps to comment... But anyway, will try to post a tracklist after I fix it a bit (If I didn't slack as I always do) and will post links to youtube for the videos I took, took over an hour of videos... All in all, now I wish more than ever that I could be in Beirut today for his set there, I was telling Rock that if he played the same set in Beirut he'd be booed... He underestimated the Dubai crowd, but on the other hand, why wouldn't he? The fact remains that this city is... scene-less... Consistency of bringing in the big names to play to crowds jumping and dancing to hype, nothing more... The same self-proclaimed "trance and house lovers" (house used there due to the fact that any sort of EDM sounds the same to most people here) would never think twice about changing the radio station if and when TATW or ASOT or any other EDM radio show is on (Apart from Carl Cox or Roger Sanchez probably)
enough ranting for me... I'm still quite happy that I got to see Agnelli and Nelson last week and they (well, he) played a flawless and amazing set... Maybe having more "unknown" djs like them and like Sean Tyas and Aly & Fila is good for true trance fans (Like the sarcasm?)
