incredible set/music/mixing/crowd/response... 2,800 people! Lots of KARAZY lebos all over the place..

of course it'd be HUGE in Beirut- and I tried my best to convience him that no matter what, he should come to Beirut when the offer comes around... only thing is he's expecting a child in a few months, so maybe not soon... but he'll come, he's totally up for it!!!

well... I really don't know how to describe his set... it was constanly changing- he might've looked at his iMac a little too much, but it's the tracks he played that really made it such a great night..

Ahmed...did you get a chance to play around with it (the Maven)? did he mention anything about it? as in thinking about letting it hit production for the public? Nice pics overall, glad you had fun!

PS: sorry for not mentioning the word Maven in the last three sentences... Maven, Maven, Maven!!!

yeah there is only ONE Maven controller- basically Sasha was soo frustrated with the other controllers on the market so he BUILT HIS OWN- I'm sure you can find the full story somewhere else...

now he's designing a new one too.. you can see up close how it's been worn out over the last 2 years since he's been using it...

I had a go at it with his tour manager- it's soo nice/smooth!!! but then again I don't think I'd be interested in remixing/re-editing tracks live - I still love my CDJ-1000s and as long as carl cox aint moving to a "computer-based" system I don't feel like we should either!

Sasha has finally played again in Dubai. It has bee eagerly-waited, and Fluid productions fulfilled their promise of bringing the man back. We were also promised a new set-up, and it was new indeed, there are usually three entrances to the club room, with a big bar in the middle, but for this unique evening, only one entrance was left open, while the tables were all around the club closing the other two doors. The bar was shifted to the back, the very end of the club, thus, creating a massive dance floor. The only time such set-up was adopted as far as I recall was for the Paul Van Dyke gig over a year ago.

Many people were expected, and many showed up, around 2,400 seems to be the official figure. Madjam started early at 9 (supposedly! I arrived at about 11 pm, it was still rather empty, but soon people started flocking in, and there was already many people in the club around midnight. There was a video camera next to the booth set to record and broadcast live to the LCD screens at the front Sasha’s live mixing using Abelton, the only time he used the mixers was when he started his set to finish the last track of Ahmad’s warm-up. Sasha took over the decks from Madjam at about 00:30, and played for 2 and a half hours, filled with underground tunes rocking the house, couldn’t ID anything really (Apart from a deep dish track played in the last 30 or so minutes, where he played more mainstream progressive tunes. Was brilliant nevertheless. Only negative was that despite the change of set-up, the place was over-crowded, which also made it quite hot, but I can imagine how complicated it would be to ventilate efficiently such a space with so many people. Anyway, another memorable night at the Fairmont =)
