OK- Bahrain: BJ's is a really cool club- well built/designed (including the DJ booth). Set-up in the afternoon for the Red Bull Flight Club- a themed night of "welcome aboard" and "terminal" and all the visuals that complement the space...
Came back after dinner around 11:30pm when Dave Hayes was playing a mix of chunky house tunes. BPM was at 132 so politely requested it be dropped to 128.
Took over at 12:00 with a selection of some of my current favorties. Crowd is a bit shy- not as loud as the one we're used to at Peppermint. Nevertheless a good 200 people kept the dancefloor & Bar Area full and another 150 we're grooving upstairs.
The organizers had a CD which has flight announcements and sound effects of planes taking off. I used that on teh 3rd CDJ during the climax of some of the tracks... Allen & Heaths' XONE 464 filters help the effects fit in wihtout over-loading the system.
Speaking of, the sound is really good @ BJ's- one of the best installed club systems in the region.
In total 550 people showed up but it all came to an end at 2am. That's the Bahrain curfew. So all complainers in Dubai should appriciate the 3am curfew...
Over-all Bahrain has a good scene- the people there are more relaxed than us Dubaiians. I really enjoyed the appriciation from the nice goups of people that came up at the end to say thanks... Again cool/friendly crowd even if not as LOUD and wild as that of Dubai or Beirut- at least they're happy!
Here's what the Bahrain gig looked like... I'm hoping to find more crowd pictures on other sites but here's what my friends snapped:
