I end up having trouble with my guest-list, but it's understandable- at 12:15 I finsished my warm-up and hernan mixed in his first track. I had to pee like a horse so right after the announcement he was on off i went to the little boys room.. looked down (out of the window) and the entrance was PACKED. Must've been at least 400 ppl queued on the door and there was already 1,500 inside at the time.
He started with a proggy sound and built upon lots of different styles. Easily heard some tech in here, some massive break-downs and build-ups... and by 2:15 it was just going going... 2:35 he dropped the Eric Prydz Mix of Paolo Mojo's 1983 which for the whole 10 minutes went up and down along with the energy on the floor... very few tracks had any vocals... of what I can recall 4 tracks only. The music we very well selected and mixed.
As always the crowd here in Dubai is mixed up of all kinds of nationalities... including LOADS of lebanese that have made their way over in the last few weeks... but they blend quite well on the marble dancefloor at The Fairmont Hotel (Peppermint's home). 2:53 hernan ended his set to a thousand screaming for an encore... and he came back with one more track... he was even willing to continue past 3, but then security insisted the music go off.. Hernan was all smiles and full of positive energy everytime I checked on him during his set.
He's a very cool guy & played an amazing set... in terms of personality top 2 are: Carl Cox & Hernan Cattaneo- friendly and modest dudes.. check out the interview with Hernan Cattaneo on MTV SALAAM next week...
