My turn! :P

Neverending Energy Invasion!
Bass-quake of 12 on Richter’s scale!
Mind Genocide!

Before I go in the details I wanna say out loud that Fred Baker & Greg Nash are (for me) way better than Marco V. On the 10th of March, I loved the light system but hated the tracklist. This night it was the opposite :)

We came to the Forum a few minutes before 11pm. I remember Raneem telling me that he would go in as soon as he gets there so I was surprised to see him at the entrance (with the Kasr el Helou bags 8)). I asked him what’s wrong and he told me about the problem with the speakers. I met a few new THerz (hope to see ya in next events!). Then the security guys let him and his friends in cuz he had to give the sweets to Fred and Greg. We waited till 11:10pm to get in.

Once I was inside I was a little bit shocked to see the dancefloor space so small (only cuz I’m used to see the Forum big inside! :)). I saw Dio, Fred, Greg, DJ Cardiac and others on stage checking the sound system. As usually we THerz went in front of the dj booth but the security guys kept telling us that we can’t even put our hands on the barrier (pfff :|). While listening to Dio’s set I saw Raneem serving the sweets to Fred and Greg and smiled cuz they liked them! :D I really loved Dio’s set! The Belgians loved it too! Very nice selection of tracks that put us in the mood for the night. Btw Fred is so open to people that he was talking to everyone and even went among the crowd during Jojo’s (who?) set! I enjoyed talking to him for a couple of minutes (in french :P) and took a pic :)

Then came this moment that is so frequent in this country and that pisses me off every time it happens! The electricity went off! First time I witness this at a gig. Wondering what the Belgians thought of this :? I couldn’t believe that… It’s Dio’s first big gig (I really loved how the crowd responded to his tracklist) and 2 black dots had to come from nowhere on the white napkin. It was the 14th of the month! Not the 13th :| Saleem, maybe you had a too perfect Friday 13th :P jk  the good thing is that you kept smiling and clapped even during this short moment of darkness ;)

Few minutes later everything came back to normal and Dionysos continued his set. Then Jojo came. When Nino told me about him, I knew it would suck and I wasn’t wrong. Like Saleem said, it’s all about the context, and the set Jojo played had absolutely nothing to do with a warm-up set! I love Hard Trance, but it’s not a style that warms up a raver. I heard that even Fred got mad about it. Around 1am, the big star of the night finally appeared behind the DJ booth :D I’ll say this again: for me that night the Belgian “chefs” prepared an amazing recipe and served us with a mixture of top quality tracks! Tracks that, when produced, were meant to drive ravers to complete madness on the dancefloor! For 3 hours Frederick de Backer was having fun showing his skills (OMG!!). His interaction with the crowd was much better than Jojo’s for me. While he was playing up there, Greg Nash was enjoying the set and while waiting for his turn some girls were chatting with him. Talking about girls… there are 2 that made my jaw hit the floor! Specially the blonde one :P they danced in front of Fred and among the crowd, the ravers were enjoying the view. Mido also went up there to play with fire :) it was nice! I dunno when exactly, but I heard For An Angel, a remix of it actually, and went crazy! :D

Around 4am, Fred’s compatriot, Greg Nash, joined him and took his place up there. The big star of the night came down to say hi to us and we thanked him for the mindblowing, full of dangerous energy set! Again, top quality set! And again, another classic was played. I remember saying to Saleem “what’s better than Classic Trance!:D and he replied with the following:”This is the definition of trance!”. Totally agree with ya man  Communication (Part 1) by the one and only Armin Van Buuren! Other big tracks played were Joop – The Future and Armin – Control Freak (SvD Remix)! I liked Raneem’s reaction to the Sensation White anthem Forever Friends and Rania’s to The Future  While Greg was mixing and interacting, Fred was dancing and clapping :D he was so happy that he couldn’t stop! Later they played b2b :D it’s the first time I witness this and I enjoyed it a lot! When Greg came down to say hi to the ravers, the security guys weren’t letting ppl take pics with him!

A little bit before 6am. Rania came to me and told me to look at the ceiling. Sunrise! Light was coming in and Fred didn’t want to stop  :D the ravers were asking for more. Rania begged Fred to stop finally cuz we were unable to leave. Oh man it’s so addictive… :D (and the security guys got frustrated hahaha, one in front of me said somethin like "ya zalame... khalesna ba2a!") but we had to go home in the end, unfortunately 8)

It was another unforgettable night. I’m glad to see new organizers, other than B-Live and MixFm. It’s good for competition :) 2 thumbs up to DJ Cardiac and Q-E! As for you Dionysos I hope that your next big gig will take place very soon and with no problems :)

One last thing, this time I seriously abused my camera  I filled the 512MB card completely! 172 pics… I don’t even know how I did to take so many :? and I deleted some that weren’t good enough.
Again, please wait till Wednesday evening :) I'll post around 20 pics.

***EDIT: when i saw on the screens A Voyage Into Trance by "Oakie", i thought it was advertising... i also saw 2 screens in front of the dj booth that weren't working... damn :|

What the hell happened yesterday? I am still trying to grasp it fully; but I know one thing for sure: IT WAS ONE HELL OF A NIGHT!

I personally think it was an amazing job done by Pur-vert and Q! Pulling such a night, knowing all the difficulties they went through, would make them deserve nothing but respect and would surely make us anticipate their up coming events!!

Saleem's opening was maginificent. Actually, the technical problem made more people there for the warmup, which as an advantage! ;) Crowd was loving the vibes, slowly starting to build up and to get warmer. Dio threw in some harder and darker stuff with some kicks, which the crowd totally digged. He was moving with head with the beats, mixing as a pro, and brilliantly interacting with the crowd! By the end of his set, the crowd was fully oriented and totally towards heavier and faster beats...

But not as heavy and fast as the beats delivered by Jojo!
It would have a brilliant main set, with fast-techish beats, but it was definitely not a warm up! The beat was so fast that we started worrying what the hell would the main djs be delivering next!! It is not called warmup for nothing! Everyone one can throw heavy beats and make people jump like maniacs, but few can set them in the proper mood for what the main guest djs would be delivering.. Many of the people were loving the beats, just dancing and oh-my-godding... Kinda gives you an idea of the crowd quality..

AND then, there was Fred Baker!
And the music gets more depth, more darkness, and more power! Wasn't as energetic as jojo's yet, but it rapidly progressed to full-on hyped craziness! Baker threw in a track after a track and the crowd couldn't stop dancing even if they wanted to!!! He ripped and bounced and so did we.. at 4:30 he delivered the deck to Nash..

And that's when the night started!!!!!
The oh my god mentioned at top would be discrbing what happened from 4:30 on... What the hell was happening people! You'd think tech-trance is 'teh-shyt', but tracks like Communication and News would so prove you wrong! THAT IS THE SHYT! with each track hammered, everyone would just get crazier and more of a music-craver! Absolutely insane! The vibes were so contagious that it got Fred Baker dancing on speakrs and with crowd, then back on deck again!!!

AND THEN, THERE WAS LIGHT!!
from set up? from the sun? or was it just me and my head spinning? ALL THREE!
Back to back, Baker and Nash; us: gone!
The music was so brilliant that everyone forgot their soaring feet and muscles and the jumping continued more than ever. My body was begging me to leave. I was screaming "KHALASSSS", but i was right there standing, not being able to move an inch! That same thing capturing the ravers was capturing the dj himself!! He wasn't going anywhere either!!
No one wanted to leave!!! If it hadn't been for police and sunlight, i SWEAR, TOTALLY BEING SERIOUS, that Baker and Nash would have still been spinning till now, with us still dancing!

Dio my cheekbones hurt from smiling! I have no idea wat the secret was yesterday, but it definitely was magic!!

I am out of words. Amazing job done again. Full respect to everyone who managed to deliver this mind-blowing night. :)
THerz, you all know by now that no night is the same without you guys!

Some Remarks:
-The security people were very unfriendly. I was trying to get a pic with Greg Nash, and a security guy was pushing me away! Mamnou3 w mamnou3. He even ordered Nash to go back to where he was... I don't think he know who he was, but still... People could ask stuff nicely with no attitude.. People at the bar weren't any better either.
-Loved the glow sticks idea. People get hyped with such small stuff, and seeing the sticks glow when the electricity went off was quite a scene!
-Too many dancers? Don't think guys would agree ;) But at the end, we couldn't see the djs!
-Stroboscope and smoke machine were abit annoying.. But it was bearable all in all.

Good luck with the future ones!

first of all I would like to congratulate my friends Mhammad (Per-vurt) and Tony (Q Entertainment) for putting a hell of a show with such talented DJs/Producers. Everything went so well if we want to talk organization and venue wise, I understand you guys had problems that were not under your control such as the last minute sound system problem and electricity going off and the 140 BPM Jojo warmup but you guys pulled out a hell of a night with outstanding DJs including my friend Dio: believe me man you have a hell of a future waiting for you, just don't count on anyone to make it happen. keep doing what you do best and you will get there sooner than ever! hats down :) chapeau and whatever words we can find to describe it.

I believe in the strenght and determination that Mhammad has right now and I can assure you all he will keep blowing our minds with time, we just need to support him more and be with him all the way! same thing goes out for you tony.

Briefly, sound distribution could have been much better (covering the VIP areas) and it would have been great to have someone who truly knows how to operate the lighting system! also the same remarks about the plasmas but all in all it was really good compared to others!

I have nothing to add about the warmup set and the main sets as everything has been said. I left about 4.30 max for being tired after a long day but I have pretty much enjoyed what Fred Baker had for us on menu and we sure swallowed it all like candies!! Forever Friends was the highlight of the night, as well as the Chaos that Take me away (Mac Zimms remix) created and the For an angel remix and much much more!
I enjoyed seeing all of your THers again and partying with you to the music we love the most (except at some points lol)

Until the next one, keep up the good work guys and we can expect a lot more coming soon!! ;)
