A message to the people who actually made it to Chi, please post whatever you think of the night, pictures, etc. and thank you for showing up! I loved every bit of it! (Apart from the bad turnout)

I'll come back to write a proper post later on, but in short, the crowd turnout was awful, but the music was off the hook. Many people were just sitting around the dancefloor on the tables watching, most never even ventured into the dancefloor... The djs were really, really nice, hope they weren't too disappointed with the almost nonexistent crowd, but hey, to whoever missed out: YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU MISSED!

Tracklist attempt: (Bad one :D)
Amadeus' first set:
Markus Schulz - Fly To Colors
Super8 & DJ Tab - Suru (Martin Roth Electrance remix)

R. Durand:
Sander Van Doorn - Riff
Toca's Miracle - Durand's 2007 remix/rework

Sean Tyas:

Ready To Go (Tomcraft remix)
Deadmau5 - Jaded

Me with the djs, it's quite hard to believe that I was actually talking and chilling with three of the biggest names in trance! Shows how down to earth they are really!

OK, the nightm these shots are not really in order though, had two cameras on Monday (One mainly for pics, the other for videos), thus, it's a bit chaotic :D (Too lazy to be organized!)

Nice pics! The club looks great too. Too bad turnout was so weak. What does the club play on non-event nights?

Raneem: Kul hal sweating wou mu 3ajbak? :D

Dionysos: The club has various nights, usually thought it's house in one room/section and rnb in the other, depending on the night really... Sometimes hosts Indian or Moroccan nights too

Qulture: Actually, it was a quality night in terms of everything apart from the crowd...

Wasn't being defensive or anything, I agree, Richard Durand was clearly disappointed and even left early (Right after finishing his set), but on the other hand, if it was held on let's say Wednesday or over the weekend, the place would have been packed with the typical clueless Dubai commercial crowd if you know what I mean... But hey, quantity comes before quality here, and at the end of the day, for such events to become a 'success', you will need the 'clueless posers' and the average Dubai clubber to make it there... On another thought, it was about time such an event took place, cheers to Dreamwave productions for making it happen...

Here's my take on the event:
Amazing music
Shitty crowd.

The promoter was somewhat of a clueless dude who just wanted to bring many DJs together for an event. The event could have done so much better. At times like these I wish I was a promoter.

I had a great time with Fila, Amadeus, Tyas, and Durrand. Durrand was disappointed indeed! Coming all the way from Amsterdam on a Monday for a crowdless event is kind of insulting to someone with very good DJing skills.

I loved everyone's set. Just amazing! Respect to each one of them. And here's why:

Amadeus: Amazing kick-off that built space for Durrand and made sure he was on the right BPM. And at the end of the night appearing again with energetic tracks. If there's one thing I really love about Chadi's mixing, its his flexibility.

Richard Durrand: Despite of his disappointment and unnecessary funny yet sarcastic comments about the crowdless club, he did deliver an amazing set! Wow indeed! Here's another thing that took the respect level higher; during the set, there was a breakdown - which I'm not familiar with - where he did play some derbake, or it could have been part of the breakdown itself. Whatever it was, this showed that he was capable of reading more about the crowd and understanding them before he even reached Dubai.

Sean Tyas: Wow again! I was talking to him and telling him and the other DJs not to be surprised if no one showed up. He responded by this: "Dude, it's totally fine! I'll still give it my best. I know for a fact that a gig in a new country is always either a hit or miss." That was around half way through the night before he went on. Later on, when he was checking his CD Case, I asked him what he was going to kick off with. "I have no idea what I'm going to play!" He kicked off with Deadma5 and built up so quickly to 138/139 in no time. Before I knew it, his remix of Diary of Jane was being dropped and I was just going nuts.

Fila: Typical set you would expect from him that would just blow your brains away. I'm not sure how to describe it but respect to this DJ.

Even though the crowd was utter shit, the 4 of them still played amazing sets. I'm sure other big shots in the scene would've just fondled around with the decks for a bit and made a run for the airport.

My pictures will be up around thursday or friday. I would sincerely like to thank the American University in Dubai for its amazing internet connection that allows you to upload at 3 kbps and download at 2.1 kbps.

How did i miss this topic?!
It's really great to see that DJs like Sean and Richard are so down to earth and friendly with clubbers like us! Guys, i'm so jealous you were chatting with them :P full respect to Sean, he's so right about a first gig in a new country. Fila is a dancefloor destroyer! I hope to see him live in the mix again :)
Omar you took very very very nice pics!
