Review by a total Psytrance noob that is me:
The rave started at 5pm and ended at about 2am in the morning the following day. I arrived at about 9:30 PM. I heared rumors that more than 5000 tickets were sold already, and wasn't able to buy the tickets online. However, i soon discovered that i was merely a scheme by the promoters to drive ticket prices higher, since the number of tickets sold was way less than expected. Although Infected Mushroom did almost 2-3 times the ticket sales of their last event which, only gathered a humble crowed of 400 people last year, still the organizers were expecting at least 5000 to attend the rave, instead of what i believe was closer to 800-1000.
It was my first Psytrance rave that i ever been to, i just arrived to denver from Saudi Arabia the previous day, only to find a flyer promoting the Infected Mushroom event. I saw this as a clear sign, that its finally time for me to dig deeper in this subgenre of Trance. I figured, Infected Mushroom would be the perfect repsentatives for the job.
The opening DJs were quite AMAZING to say the least!! spinning all kinds of Psytrance in three different rooms, ranging from Dark to Morning to progressive and melodic. People were dancing like crazy and so was I. Once more to further prove my belief that there is soooo much underground hidden US DJ talent, spanning most EDM spectrums.
at about midnight sharp, Infected Mushroom got on the main stage, with a full on live band including drummer, keyboard, guitarists and vocalist etc..
The crowd started growing nuts and so did i, at least for the first 30 minutes. I was in TOTAL SHOCK AND CONFUSION, after the first 30 minutes passing by, and i could have sworn that i haven't heard anything that even remotely resembles PsyTrance... or at least what i thought Psytrance was

If i didn't recognize their bald headed vocalist, i could have sworn they are some gothic/punk Rockband, cause thats what they really sounded like. I stayed for another 30 minutes i was really fond of their guitarist who just tore shit up, but just couldn't stomach the vocals anymore. So i left the mainstage and headed to other rooms, whom thankfully were playing some EDM, or PSYTRANCE to be exact.
while hanging out in the other rooms, i found out that i wasn't the only one that was totally dissapointed by the performance. I spoke to at least 3 PSYTRANCE DJs who were wondering why Infected Mushroom "mostly" played music that can be described anything but PSYTRANCE.

anyways, overall was a really nice rave, and i had tons of fun. But don't think i will ever see Infected Mushroom again live, maybe if Wizzy Noise or the likes will ever come to my neck of the woods, i will definately be there, cause i feel i should definately give PSYTRANCE events a second chance.
I heard that Infected Mushroom live, is totally different than Infected Mushroom Procutions, Maybe Genesis or any other PSYTRANCE guru, can help clarify.
