Oh man! This is the most hilarious shit ever!!

My friends and I organized this MASSIVE party at a pent-house here in Dubai. We cleared out the place and left couches and dimmed lights on while we set up a nice DJ booth with lasers and shit. It was AWESOME! I was booked for the night along with a friend of mine (one of the organizers). He pretty much warmed up the 2000 sq. ft. pent-house for me until I arrived at 10:30 pm. It was PACKED! we're talking around 120 people in one apartment. Tons of beautiful women.

So I walked in with my laptop, hard disk, and Traktor Scratch. It was time to seriously blast out some quality techno/tech-house. And I did! The instant I started, people were jumping like crazy!

After noticing how much people wanted vocals, I dropped Kaskade - 4am (Adam K & Soha remix) onto deck A and started sending it in.

And then.....

BBBBUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


What happened was that in Traktor Scratch itself, the "Current Playlist" section sorta crashed with the "Search Results section and that evidently made the software "freeze" for a few moments, which distorted the signal and sent it out loud to the speakers.

In no time, people were booing. It was hilarious!!! Cuz a few moments before all this happened, the crowd was going mental over every single track that I played.

I just thought i'd share this experience with you all here. Made my night in a way! What's awesome though is how many people kept high fiving me and telling me how awesome my set was. Felt great!!

Lesson learned: Switch off any programs running while Traktor Scratch is playing in order to avoid any software hanging or freezing. And I'm awesome anyway!

Lesson Learned: Switch to CDS

I'd rather have my laptop freeze on me and I can restart in 5 mins rather than switch to CDs and burn music and spend money and time on CDs.

Something similar happened with me once at a gig a couple of years ago, luckily for me I had a temp CD running on one CDJ and I just quickly faded into it, no one noticed much, I always do that, have a temp CD with medium-tempo tracks running all the time on a third channel for emergencies!

1. Hardware is much more reliable (until you spill your pint onto the CDJ)
2. If you're stubborn enough to stay on software (which makes you even more gay) then get a Mac. Much more peace of mind.
3. Thank your lucky stars your porn didn't pop up on the speakers. Though if it did, THEN you'll be awesome in the eyes of your audience.

Guys! Guys! I just thought I would share my experience with you all as it was hilarious. Let's not get into the whole hardware vs software discussion.
I'm happy with what I have got whether my porn would pop up or whatever. It was a great night and the crowd enjoyed it. No one seemed to care much after the whole thing happened. In fact, people kept asking me to play again. Got a few numbers here and there

Lesson learned: switch to hardware

Lesson: Buy a better PC (top notch spec since your sticking to PC). I bet all those who said move to Mac don't know that Mac FREEZES TOO in a similar scenario. What happened is a typical example of untested hardware in an unexplored environment. Next time you want to go massive test your hardware before going live. There is a reason why some laptops cost $500 and overs cost $2500.

Tip of the day: If you don't like Windows go Linux & not Mac. FREE, stable & works on any piece of hardware junk out there. (Unlike Mac)
