Trance Music..in growth stage again?

I was listening to the last 45min of AVB's a state of trance last nite in my car! and seriously it didn't catch my attention at all! just some tiny melodic/vocal bits, then the breakdowns were just really bad... Anyway i can't get into this argument since i was never loyal 2 trance.

My ears can handle anythg far from electro/tech-trance.

Good post Raneem. Your analysis of Trance's need to shift into various subgenres is correct, and while many Trance purists refused that evolution, it attracted new audiences. Trance was never away, but it just stopped providing fresh sounds that some listeners liked, and consequently other genres re-instated thier place. But I dont think Trance will ever get back to the heights is achieved during the early 00s until 04, simply because its just not innovative enough, and producers often find themselves having to insert samples and elements of other sub-genres to keep Trance going. It shouldnt be like that. The EDM scene has shifted its focus away from Trance, and I think it will remain shifted for another couple of years, because as every genre out there Trance had it's time, now its Techno's turn. And I stress on Techno not house, because House in its traditional forms has been commercialised to unprecedented levels, and so house enthusaists often find themselves resorting to techno records for the underground experience. Im not writing house off obviously, that would be foolish to say, especially since that im very loyal to the genre, but I am saying that house had to integrate with Techno the last two years to produce these awesome fresh tech house sounds. Progressive is also suffering as well, quality proggie sounds are hard to find these days!

Trance always makes a return with a different form and shape keeping the main basics that made trance "Trance" over the years stable.
If you go back in time when Trance started seeing the pop light,the choices for producers weren't as vast as they are now (Musically speaking) In EDM in general time seems to do it great justice shaping up it's sound to better standards,maybe less quality here and there but that applies to every other music genre.
The old Trance sound may have been perfect at it's time but it wouldn't work now at our time,however the core or soul of the song can still be kept to produce a perfect remake out of that's why you see some producers going back to old tracks and giving them the current year sound,some tracks turn awful others carry on the success of the track under different sound,that's when the producers keeps the core of the song alive and just changes the painting to something that simulates the current year or time.

Some old trance producers decided to stand in the shadow until the scene is filtered,others stepped into the field and proved they're still the big dogs,i like using Signum as an example because they survived this huge crowd of producers yet reviving the old Trance sound and its a good sign when their songs get good rates it keeps the chain from old to new trance going,there's a mass demand on productions to pick the best but in most of the times "The best" is not compared to anything that used to be produced years ago with semi improved methods,so technology isn't everything,it may give you chance to auto generate a lead,a melody here and there but it can never create a masterpiece,the masterpieces era in my opinion is dead because masterpieces don't just happen they take a lot of thinking and talent which current producers (all of them) lack,big time.

I don't think any music type "Dies" as much as it only disappears from being mainstream back to Underground where loyal fans can still enjoy it,posers etc..will move on to something else,it would be a bliss if trance goes back underground to some people but at the same time a mass majority won't get the chance to live the Trance experience.
With huge shows hosted by big producer and the fuss after each episode by different djs,the feedbacks,reviews only prove that Trance specifically is here to stay for years and years later.
My only worry is the constant progress of illegal file sharing,but i won't stress that point it's way off topic.

Going back to the origins does not necessarily mean growing back again...it might also mean a lack of new ideas...and let's face it whether it is trance or house there are far too much productions and producers these days to an extent that many tracks look the same...

I believe electronic music as a whole is in a decadence period right now...

There is no such thing as a music genre "dying", it's all cyclical from a marketing perspective, and music-wise I'm still finding great Trance music in 2008 as I did last year and the year before, though of course for me the golden era was the 20th century.
