Trance Music : Underground or not??

thats where the problem comes in, commercial gets blended with other genres, and as we notice, tiesto's songs in an ipod with pussycat dolls and nickleback, so our image as a genre is represented commercially and introduced that way too.

Its a matter of taste and choice, trance is generating into a subfield which is underground, and its allready there actually. With the rising potential producers and djs in the scene, and artists like Armin Van Buuren providing strictly new and producer supported material in radio shows. B class artists are becoming more fimiliar in the trance field, and supported, evidence to this is Armin Van buuren's no.1 vote in dj mag top 100, which proves that many are going underground and enjoying the quality sound.

so its a matter of time for things to change.

Trance began as underground because it was new (beautiful and addictive too for me). But now it's not anymore. However, it's not completely commercial (luckily).
My wish is that one day it becomes underground again (soon i want ).

To classify trance on its own with all its divisions is not a smart move when
labeling as underground or not.

We had an endless 4-page long debate over underground and its
definition, and to put it out there: no it's not underground. If anything, it's
far from it and gets further from it literally everyday.
It's mainstream, easy to get hold of, appeals to the masses, and very well
advertised and marketed.

I really think it's still underground, though House music is soooo underground that it makes trance look commercial all the time!

But as Gen said, you can't really classify it on its own.
