Cosmic Gate have been in the scene since the 90s! :D i was a huge fan of them a decade ago because of their amazing hard trance sound. Now i still love them but not as much as before, the techy style is horrible, monotonous and boring for me, worse than the hard style.

The Blizzard make Progressive Trance. That's how i'd categorize their style imo. Prog is very rich in sounds most probably because in many tracks you can't be sure if it's Prog House or Prog Trance or another low bpm subgenre. It's the best choice if you want to combine different sounds (electro, minimal, melodic...) and that's why every time you hear something "new".

I'm just saying that seriously no one ever criticizes the tech DJs/artists (ban the word "producer"!). Sander Van Doorn made a minimal track (Grasshopper) and i also remember him as Sam Sharp (track Twister) and Purple Haze. But for 2-3 years now his sets and tracks mainly sound DRY. Leon Bolier & Sied Van Riel make the tech that i truly enjoy. Tech with melodies. Proggy Tech... call it however you like. But SvD & co are freakin boring for me just like Sean Tyas & co are freakin boring for others.

Yep, music is about being original. There are DJs/artists who have a wide taste and can make tracks in different genres/subgenres, thus creating something original and different all the time. But there are also others who enjoy only this or that subgenre. Imagine David Guetta playing/making Uplifting Trance! I'm sure that his ears wouldn't enjoy it! :P or Aly & Fila playing/making commercial only!
We all go the whole time into arguments about this and that, but if you go back to the source of all those debates, it's about musical taste :) SvD and Marcel Woods love tech-trance and have their own fans. Sean Tyas & Nitrous Oxide love energetic uplifting trance and have their own fans as well. If a Trance DJ wants to expand his fan-base, he can do it by switching to House music and conquer House lovers (like M.I.K.E. started doing). But for example Sean Tyas can also expand his fan-base without changing his style and conquer people who love the energy, the melodies and a lovely 138-140 bpm :D

\o/

PS: i hope that in my life i'll see the day when someone in this forum will criticize Sander Van Doorn for not making something new! If you want it can be Marcel Woods or Cosmic Gate, feel free :P

Yeah Cosmic Gate have been around for as long as I remember.
I've never been a fan of Mercel Woods work..But its not only about Artists sticking to the same style it's also how most songs now are intentionally emotionally driven at the pick up part (half way through the song)for example Peter Martijn Wijnia's Not the End or Alex's Walk the Edge,u get a melodic rush then comes rough beats and this pattern goes on and on and on,its becoming a trend that even Armin almost fell into in his album with songs like Imagine and Face to Face but he somehow managed to keep his style yet bring something new and made a semi successful album, while his rival Tiesto tried to do something new but horribly failed compared to his old stuff..Even huge artists like A&B sound never changed over the years, yes they do sell but they cant surprise someone who's been listening to them for years ,their work is predictable and to me it's plain boring.
Sean Tyas should start considering using a new musical element other than rough Piano melodies, and Tom Colontonio Should slow down on excessive beats and work more on melodic driven tunes..maybe daniel kandi should give him a lesson or 2 :D

One of the Djs im starting to admire for having a unique style is DJ Shah,he's doing really well especially recently, also people like Super8&Tab,Nitrous Oxide,Akesson,Carl B, are doing great with each track they work on..Also someone worth mentioning is orjan nilsen,la guitarra had a fresh sound and thats exactly what the current trance scene lacks right now.

I think all the artists at some point fall into a loop and start producing tracks with the same elements...they consider it to be a succesful formula and if people enjoyed it once they will enjoy it many more times...you have to realize that it's very hard to keep producing fresh sounds on a regular basis...this is why I think there were so many producers that jumped on the Tech-Trance train...it gave them a new perspective and a new chance to experiment new sounds...some of those producers such as Cosmic Gate didn't produce full-on tech tracks and you could feel some other influences whereas many others such as Marcel Woods SvD or Randy Katana hammered us with productions that sound the same with no variety or innovation...same goes to a lot of house producers out there but I talked about trance because you have the most flagrant examples...

Welcome to DJ.Malaria you may wonder why I called this group Dj Malaria.
Just like Malaria takes over a person's body when it hits them i want my music's originality to control the soul of whoever hears it in that sense my music is more powerful than Malaria, and I'm sure it will but in a positive way of
course.

what do u guyz think of Mike Shiver ? to me, most of the times he uses the same loops, but ther is something abt him that could never make me get bored of his tracks...which simply is his unique uplifting trancy style !so i guess its not abt using same samples..but also having a creative mind..correct me if im wrong lol

Mike shiver's work is always top class,at least to me,he puts a lot of effort into his tunes/remixes,and he should be getting more attention instead of the one hit wonders circulating around that produce one good track then dissapear.

Anyway there's a difference between Artists sticking to the same sound cause it's their style,(JOC,Ferry Corsten are one of the people that perfectly do that) and sticking to the same sound cause they're out of new ideas ex;(Aly&Fila),Airbourne (Aly & Fila Remix),Shine On (Aly & Fila Remix)..listen to these 2 and try to find one new musical element, just a side note, these 2 songs are supposed to be REMIXES how hard is it to edit the core of the song with a fresh sound, why not take a risk?look at how many elements Armin used in Imagine the song yet successfully delivered a fairly good trance song.It isn't like you're starting from scratch..A&F's latest 2 new remixes=complete failure cause people are becoming more and more aware of this.

A lot of producers such as Alex M.O.R.P.H. and Sebastian Brandt,Akesson are aware that this big boom in the middle of each song era is about to be over,so they are reinventing their style and finding better ways to deliver their work, soon the crowd will follow and that's trance constantly in motion.
