Welcome to DJ.Malaria you may wonder why I called this group Dj Malaria.
Just like Malaria takes over a person's body when it hits them i want my music's originality to control the soul of whoever hears it in that sense my music is more powerful than Malaria, and I'm sure it will but in a positive way of
course.

PLUR men wejje...

Jon, I LOVE YOU! 2 thumbs up and if i had more, i would give 4 thumbs up. It's not probably all wrong, it's all very true. Finally someone saying the whole truth about the scene!

"You are never going to be happy with fame if you ain’t happy without it."
This is something that a big majority of new (young) producers don't want to/can't understand. It's normal for young people anyway if they don't understand such things. Shame...

And the worst is that labels sign artists because they know someone from the management even if their tracks aren't that amazing and WOW. Miika Kuisma said something very interesting in his interview for Trance.nu and i'll quote it:
"Also you probably remember when it wasn’t even called “producing”, it was just “making music”. In my mind a producer is still someone who knows which kind of music performed by certain artist makes a great product, which can be sold with profit. Producer is also someone who knows where to get money for the production. So producing is essentially about making a product."
It's DISGUSTING how people treat tracks and songs like a Sony digital camera or a Toshiba laptop. Even if my best friend agreed with this approach, i'd tell him that he sucks.

It's known everywhere and by everyone that today you get nowhere if you have nor contacts nor money. AND IT'S FUCKIN DISGUSTING.

He mentioned that there was "no hating" but most of the article is based on hate or anger, and he focused on the trasition phase that most artists/pre-artists go through.Basically the one's that fail/wannabes will eventually drop it and find something else to do and the ones who make it will become "The Legends" and so on..no one starts big,no one starts smart or confident.

Almost every new Artist goes through an insecure phase at the start, its 1 outta 10 case when someone is born talented and knows it,so its not wrong when someone tries to get attention or a group of people to judge on his work, however it does get annoying when someone constantly reminds you of his "new mix" when you already know they got Zero talent.

A lot of djs became famous cause of MySpace self promotion, its either a temporary fame or everlasting, its all about the talent in the end .A lot of programs made creating tracks a lot easier and simple enough that almost anyone can create a melody in a very short time but the trick is in creating a good melody and that's the line that separates an artists from a wannabe.

Today I was in some place with some friends (4 friends actually), we were discussing music and suddenly one of my friends said to another "by the way did you know Jack (myself) is a DJ??", and the guy looked at me and said "Are you serious? is it actually a new trend that everyone becomes a DJ here in Lebanon?, I know already 4 new DJ friends of mine"

I wasn't shocked by his answer because he is so f**king right...I actually never mention to anyone that I'm a DJ (only close friends know, the story is the proof) it's because I'm really ashamed telling people I'm a DJ, for the simple reason that anyone now in Lebanon that happened to touch a mixer calls himself a DJ...I don't bother telling people I'm different and I know the technic because DJs in Lebanon already lost their value...
It's really disgusting, and I would prefer keeping my mixes to myself and to very few friends, because I know not many people will appreciate it, specially that only few are the ones who know the difference between quality and cheesy Trance.

And whenever people ask me about any productions for myself, I proudly say that I'm not yet ready for it because it needs lots of talent and practice...

I don't know If anyone here faces the same issue...But honestly...It's the case here in Lebanon...

I fully agree with you,the whole "Im a dj" trend is infecting a lot of people, especially in lebanon, turns out in order to be called a dj u gotta force it and keep repeating it around people until you get recognized as dj -Name here-
And this goes back to 2 issues imo"

-Miss-understanding the term "DJ" which causes it's abuse and randomly using it.
-Lacking any music education cause People still fail to identify or separate music geners so all dance music is techno and every electronic song is tiesto's.

i'll make it very simple for everyone:

1- make music because you love making music and nothing else!!!

2- if you ever make music because you love music then work your ass off to make it a masterpiece to your ears first then if anyone else likes it... a plus for you!

3- don't make music because you want to sell and be famous. it's just a dream.. wake up!!!

that's it. now live with the facts :P

MUSIC! my little sister, she loves it too. if you ask my grandma, she will tell you YES, I LOVE music.
Its not only about loving music. everybody loves music... Bush, Hitler, Lahoud... no exceptions!
Its about taste, good ears. being able to hit the right chords after a few trials.

Note that to be producer you dont have to be a musician, but that would help a lot!
you dont have to learn the "music alphabet". but its always good idea to know the basics or at least have some reading sessions.

I dont mind anybody having an LCD & a decent computer, producing good music. the important is the final output. NOT everyone can afford a studio or even hire a studio!!

I used to send promos to labels & wait for a reply, but now I dont! since I have the chance to release an entire album, and being available on the worldwide market, I wouldn't bother send to any label (for now), what Im doing is gaining experience and being pro track after track. Once I feel that YES, its time to be part of the top charts, I will try to send promos to big labels. My point is, dont expect a major release in your amateur position, even if you think you have produced a HIT track. I produced lot of hit tracks (could be) but there can be always something missing. it might be So technical that even my 3-4 years experience would not tell me.

TRY & TRY. never get disappointed.
Never laugh at somebody's work. I was freakin funny when I started producing. (ejayyy) its just about time, and a good taste.

I also believe that having a musical family (all my family members are musicians) helps you a lot. you advance more quickly. Since im born i have been hearin music at home, my dad arranging or composing music. my ears are filled with notes.

So, if you may add to my article, music production is your shadow! its there since you were born.

now, back to Reason :p (Raneem - Blackhole - C-Rouge loves tribal percussions remix)
