^ Nailed it.
Spyro,
1- Composing a psy tune is not simple. Like any tune in any type of music
it takes the same elements and efforts from the artist. Just because a few
tunes end up being monotonous is not a solid proof of a tune being 'easy'
to compose. Whatever the style is, music is never easy to compose.
2- Infected Mushroom's draining is only a presonal opinion. They can fill up
stadiums and flip festivals above & beyond, but when it comes to albums
and shelf material: they are not that much of a good listen; their
experimental approach is highly respected but the ever increasing
instrumental samples, vocals, as well as a reduction in their tunes' synths
and the famous psychedelic aggression is really a turn off for psy purists.
Yes, they are good live: very technical, interactive, and innovative; but
then again: that's all what psy live perfomances is about. They have the
honours of introducing a new psychedelic sound, but seriously: on CD, this
sounds keeps on drifting away.
Astral projection has been composing since 1991 and they still pull out
stunners! Check the samples of the latest tune from them in the other
topic. I don't find a reason why mushroom can't be just as true to the
sound that breaks sounds barriers in psy. But bottom line is that the lads
are making the money, the fame, and they're having it all... except one
bit: the purists under their wing.
If your trance was a pretty blonde ballerina; then what I listen to is a peed-off bulky bouncer pounding the living shit out of your ballerina.
