Laurent Véronnez is back with a very old alias from a couple of years ago. Only one single has been released under the Cloud 69 alias before this one. 69 Weeks and When I Close My Eyes were released back in 2000. Besides a remix of York's On The Beach nothing ever was heard from Cloud 69 again and it seemed to end under a big pile dust. Until, a couple of months ago, a new Cloud 69 was announced. People have looked forward to that ever since and good news: it's out! And TranceHits.com is here to review it for you!
Seventy Days
A big bouncy kick is the first thing you hear when playing this record. No doubt indeed that L-Vee has been working on this production again. The start of the track sounds very dramatic with heavy, melancholical sounds that play a somewhat sad melody. It reminded me a little of the remix of Airwave's When Things Go Wrong. But then the track changes into a beautiful feelgood (not cheesy) uplifting trancer. A crystal clear pianolike melody plays, backed by a package of uplifting strings that will tear a dancefloor apart. The ultimate cross-over track between Airwave and Fire & Ice in my opinion.
Seventy Weeks
The second track counts 15 seconds longer and is also a very uplifting trancer. It takes a little longer to get the track rolling, but after one and a half minute the first break presents a nice warm melody that had already been buzzing in the background for a while. A long second breakdown is presented where the melody changes a little. A very nice, solid trancer, but no match for Seventy Days.
It's summertime and it's noticeable that more and more anthems are finding the way to the market now. Seventy Days is undoubtedly one of the super summer Trance anthems. Keep an eye on it!
