Ferry Corsten ~ Sweet Sorrow [Original Mix]
What cruelty it is to put Ferry Corsten & Steve Helstrip in one studio! Disaster is bound to arise! And this is the case with this release. We all heard and fell in love with Sweet Sorrow on Ferry's latest album Right Of Way. But for those who missed it, here is a small review. The track kicks off with some tracy synth work, until the beat is added after less than a minute, a very "electro" beat I may say, with all sorts of buzzing elements circulating on your speakers (slightly Goa-ish even?). After about 3 minutes of teasing & pleasing, the melody is finally thrown in. What can I say about the melody... What can I say about any melody resulting from Ferry's take on a synth! Magical, simply magical. It truly represents the track's title: it is a sad melody, yet with a certain sweetness to it. The melody in itself as as melancholical as they come, but for some bizarre reason it does create a sweetness in the listener's heart. What can I say, Ferry is beyond words.
Ferry Corsten ~ Sweet Sorrow [Thrillseekers Remix]
And just when you think you've had your dose, Steve comes along and decides to throw in a hand in this baby; and we sure are glad he did! As I'm listening to the buildup, my mind is going back in time, trying to find one, just one Thrillseekers production that wasn't up to the standards... Result: none! Now as the breakdown approached I was reminded by Mr. Steve just what he is still capable of: highest quality Trance. He used a fragment of the melody as the lead in the buildup, raising the musical key to add some more energy... then came the breakdown. This is where my review ends and your listening begins. I will not even dare to describe what I am hearing right now with words - you have to hear it for yourselves.
