So what is the whole deal with electric guitars in Trance lately? Draft 2 Design a.k.a. Outback (behind State Of Emergency) are back with their latest release - Affection Over Reason - and it seems they are quite fond of the electric guitar as well! It takes about 3 minutes for the guitar to start playing, very nicely though. Naturally the guitar gets even more emphasized in the breakdown, accompanied by some very neat strings, and then followed by the main melody which is pretty uplifting by nature. I guess it is more-or-less risky to implement an electric guitar in a Trance track, but with these 2 releases it has been done very nicely.

What an intro we have here! It feels like an opening of a Tiesto album - Magic Journey or Forever Today - with epic strings, the kind of track I would start my set with (now that I'm a "DJ in the making"
). The Basic Draft mix of this tune is somewhat longer, on the 10 minute barrier, which makes sense considering it has a 2 minute intro. Nothing too special about the buildup, it's good nonetheless and anticipates a more dreamy touch to this beauty, so I'll jump straight to what we all care about - the breakdown: silence is all you hear at first, silence before the storm if you wish. And it truly is - on the 6 minute mark the melody is beautifully introduced in its full epic glory. Then at 6:44, a breakbeat is introduced (and Dreamboy is now happeir than a pig in mud ), until the climax is finally reached at 7:11. Just like I foresaw, this mix is more on the dreamy side (I surely don't mind), with the absence of the electric guitar and the more "epic" feel to it. What is also remarkable about this mix is how the producers knew that it was dreamy, so they gave it one of those pumping basslines to that it work well on the dancefloor as well! Great stuff, I surely liked it better than the A-side, which was also great in my opinion. I think that this mix is a Trance Masterpiece, and I rarely give out this title to releases.
