Laurent Véronnez, aka Airwave, strongly returns to the scene with the release of his second album with the Planisphere alias: Solarism on the very popular Bonzai record label. The album features 100 minutes of deep, progressive trance. Presenting a very unique and new sound that is deep and spacey, yet intersected with a whole bunch of new elements, this album strikes hard! Many would not like the album instantly, but trust me, it grows on you! It's not the kind of music you enjoy at a club, but rather, the kind you fall in love with alone in your car or room.
Bitmap Sprite is first to hit with its deeply penetrating sound and skittery rhythems. Elements are very scattered and the whole thing is just a very wild and bumpy musical ride, making you ready for what's next, and what's next is
Tokyo Skycraper with a very haunting, somewhat uplifting, melody. Aerial glittery elements that increase in intensity slowly, but steadily until reaching a breakdown and then kicking back with the same addictive melody make this one of the best tracks on the album! Speeding things up just a bit with
Alizé the album shifts into an ever deeper sound. Starting off with chunked, languishing male vocals then moving on to a groaning bassline and whistly melodies, the track gives an overall feeling of melancholy. The breakdown could have been better imo, but still, the track is very solid.
Nothings Slave also features a sad melody that sluggishly moves along a vibrating bassline alongside much twinkly and clicky elements. Just stop whatever you're doing and enjoy one of the finest productions you could hear in your life with it. Back to heavier beats with
Corinthians XIII, the track captures you instantly with its polished breaks, 'ghostly vocals', and that always-existing feeling of deepness. Buildup after breakdown is chills-guaranteed! Next is my favorite track on the album,
No Sugar Added! With the first beat you're hooked! The track is more dance-oriented with its stronger beats, grooves, invading bassline, 'game-sounds', and techy bits and pieces. It is just endless layers of melodies geniusly piled on top of each other, being added one at a time with each loop of the track! Two breakdowns in here, where in between that energetic groovy feeling catches you again. Definitely repeating this once or twice before moving on to
Spectrazoids. Reminding you of Alizé at first, then taking a totally different sound, but still Planisperish. Best part of this track are the striking, screaming loud breaks and curved bass and melodies.
Trigger Escape goes heavy on the beats with a scorching melody that is insanely relentless. Come back after breakdown is sleezily STRIKING!
Lost in Infinity presents a whole pool of new bubbly sounds with a very spacey melody, in addition to a breakdown filled with light organ sounds. Approaching the end with the track that has the name of the album
Solarism, and also the longest track on it, you get a glimpse of uplifting sounds. Yet, the deepness prevails with the heavy steppings of beats! Breakdown is out of this world with a long dreamy, lullaby-ee, warm, capturing feeling. Beautiful.... Then a snap back to reality with heavy beats and floating melodies once again. A true masterpiece!.. And last on the album is
United We Were and it's the perefect finish. Minimizing the deep doleful sounds, yet maintaing them, Planisphere ends the journey in a way very similar to the way it started.
This album is a must-grab!!! Beautiful from beginning till the very end.
A Hybrid Edition of the album is going to be released shortly after the Single Edition, which featuring 120 minutes of continuous mixing of the tracks of the tracks of the album, in addition to some reworks of them and some new exclusive ones.
