A few days ago, I asked AMADEUS what the deadline is to submit the votes for his top 20 of 2006. Some replies emerged telling me to just vote already, and my response was: "but what if I vote now, and something massive gets released, then it wouldn't have gotten my vote though it is indeed a 2006 release." I didn't even care if I was going to be the only one to vote for this or that track, all I cared about was having my list the way I want it to be, with nothing unnecessary on it, and nothing necessary not on it. This release is firm proof of why I did not vote yet.
This release is also firm proof that there still is good vocal Trance out there. A stunning tune from Markus Schulz to say the very least, with the aid of the vocalist Carrie Skipper whom you might recall from last year's beauty Time Goes By. This tune was already featured as an ambient album version on Schulzy's "Without You Near" artist album from 2005, and is now finally out on vinyl with a club mix from the main man himself, maintaining the ambient feel of the original album version but adding all the usual Coldharbour elemets to it, with some impressive vocal work on the side. Staying true to ProgTrance is another finer than fine remix from a collaboration between two giants: Jose Amnesia and Shawn Mitiska. Going head to head, the two managed to dish out an interpretation as good as Markus', and again in the same spirit of the ambient original, so don't expect much energy in both mixes, just sheer beauty. The energy is however supplied by the very well-established Mike Shiver under his relatively new Catching Sun alias, just not a whole lot of energy. It's as if all the remixer have agreed with Schulz to highlight beauty more than energy. An uplifter par excellence, yet on the softer side of Uplifting Trance, and an excellent piece of work overall.
This is good vocal Trance. This is not to be missed. I may not be able to pick a favorite mix out of the three masterpieces, but I sure as hell know that this release is making it to my 2006 favorites list, even if it gets my lonely vote![/align]
