ATN - Miss A Day / Crowdpusher

Postby Dreamboy » Mon Jul 19, 2004 1:13 am

The duo in question here are Lars Frederiksen & Soren Weile, aka Tukan or aka the mighty F&W. Their last hit was the unbelievably awesome 'You Will Understand' on F&W Records, and now they are here once again with a new pair of qaulity tracks, 'Miss A Day' and 'Crowdpusher' ...

A) Miss A Day
'Miss A Day' begins with a light percussion backed synth playing nice sounding, slow sweeping chords. These continue as a big F&W style bassline drops in. Already you can hear the harmony as bass and synth backing work together. Something good is growing here. Very subtle beginnings of a melody are played by a softer synth in the background. This gradually edges its way forward and becomes more prominent. The ensuing breakdown goes quiet, focussing on the new synth, then it gains strength, pulling in some female vocals 'Aahs' (very nice indeed). This continues, with the synth developing into something much more massive, playing a falling scale driven melody. The track drops and its just awesome. Backed by the female voice every now and again, you can't escape the force of this synth driven melody, it just opwers itself out and drives forward. It drops off for a short section before another breakdown comes about. Now, can you say build up? The track fades to an eerie howl-induced silence, only for the massive, massive synth to explode and build to where the tracks drops. Mayhem. This is a killer track, not on par with 'You Will Understand', but a close second. Powerful, epic, awesome.

B) Crowdpusher
'Crowdpusher' sports a snappy kick and quite a gutsy bassline which rolls along nicely and deeply. The track is quite progressive in nature for a minute or so until there is a short break and then things begin to develop. A high pitch, kind of springy trance synth makes itself heard, playing a strong repeating melody. As things progress, backing synths playing chord progressions fill up the track and create a really nice full sound to the track. More ambient elements are added - high pitched pads sweeping way up above everything else creating a great feeling and atmosphere. A short gentle lead synth only breakdown brings on one of those rest periods where the beat and bass kick along for a short while. here though, it also acts as one big build up section, as the synth melody is re-introduced and faded in like before, until you are treated to one last main section of strong melodic action.

Conclusion:
Fantastic! 'Crowdpusher' and 'Miss A Day' are quality tracks!! Trance/Hard Trance fans cannot go wrong with this one. F&W show what they're made of once again. BRILLIANT. :D

You Will Understand is a truly a Hard Trance masterpiece, and we surely haven't forgotten Tukan's Light A Rainbow! This release is pretty good as well, so everyone who hasn't checked it out yet do so now.
