Filo & Peri ~ i95 / Spectrum

Postby DIONYSOS » Tue Apr 06, 2004 12:26 am

New York based Trance duo Filo & Peri are at it again. Dominic and Bo's followup to Elevation / Juicy is out now on Armin van Buuren's A State Of Trance label.

i95:
Starting with a high energy bassline and a supporting well bass-fed kick, Filo & Peri introduce you into their trademark Trance sound. Smooth flowing, yet energetic Trance knocking from your speakers. A pretty smooth buildup to stabbing synths in the back guide you to the break. Loads of effects floating around make this track a pretty atmospheric one. Off to the breakbeat-break. Lush pads play the melody. Tight stabs in the background and rolling synths add to the increased breakbeats. Pretty powerfull Paul van Dyk-ish track in my opinion. Nice piano after the break and off to the build down. Atmospheric, energetic track well suited for the dancefloors.

Spectrum:
Starting off with a piano and rolling orchestral drums, the tone is set for a more relaxed track. And no surprise, it starts off pretty laidback. Kicking in with slower beats and a nice bassline. A soft synth-riff takes the track a level higher into the clouds. In the break the riff gets backed up by bigger Trance stabs. Pretty lush kick off and the track is on its way again. The melody gets extended a bit. And back to build down. This track is more suited to listen to, which is nice.

Dominick Filopei & Bo Pericic didnt dissapoint with this release. The tracks are having slight similarities to Paul van Dyk's tracks, which should be considered as a compliment! Of the two tracks, i95 is better suited for the dancefloors, but Spectrum sounds better when listening to in a chilled mood. To be considered a Trance essential.
