Several times 'Future Favourite' in Armin van Buuren's show A State Of Trance, support by almost every big Trance DJ from Ferry Corsten to Markus Schulz, and already included on some compilations like Ronski Speeds' Positive Ways and more. Behind this track is Nic Vegter (and a little help from Maurice Night), responsible for previous big tracks like Infernal Machine, Classified Project, and many more.
Sahara is the monster track everybody has been talking about for months. A nice bass kicks off with a catchy melody slowly evolving into the track. Basslines and subtle percussion is added. Some floating sounds in the background add an amazing extra depth and atmosphere to the track. The breakdown is served, flavoured with a fantastic guitar solo, which is probably one of the most memorable parts of the track. Then the strange, twisted melodyline is introduced. When the bassline returns supporting this exceptional melody, you listen to one of the most remarkable Trance tracks in a long time. The rest of the track follows more or less the same concept, with an extra note for the fantastic build-up around the 6 minute mark that made people throw their hands in the air on parties worldwide. A classic!
Kalahari is the B-Side of the vinyl and less known than Sahara and a totally different track. From the start the sound is more techy and acid. Best way to describe this is an experimental remix of Sahara, where clubby grooves, acid effects and techy sounds find each other. After four minutes, during the breakdown, a very techy mainlead is introduced, supported by uplifting acid effects. Then the track explodes with a firm sharp techy leadsound. The combination of these sounds with the clubby bassline and the loads of FX that are inserted during the track make this quite an energetic experience... For the people that like it a little tougher!
Sahara is already months in loads of DJs' playlists and is one of the most catchy Trance tracks at the moment. Kalahari is the tougher side of the vinyl, combining tech, groove and acid sounds into a well-produced banging B-Side, although it won't reach the classic heights as Sahara. Overall, an extremely good vinyl... Get it while it's available!
