Wippenberg ~ Elemental EP

Olaf Dieckman, the man responsible for the Wippenberg project strikes back. Some of you may remember him from his 1995 release Neurodancer, others for all the remixes he has done over the last 5 years. Artist like Blank & Jones, Green Court, ATB, and Tiesto came along to get one of their tracks remixed by Wippenberg.
Today Olaf presents his new vinyl, a definition of his own style: smooth Trance with a little tech influence. This production is also the first release on his new set up label Touched By Sound Records. Let’s put the needle on the record...


A1: Fire
‘Alibi-like’ drums create the first couple of seconds here but quickly get some support from a catchy rolling bassline. Eventually more sounds are added, synth basses, and a hi-pitched string picks. At the break, the synth melody really comes to its full potential; deep layers of stacks and a pleasant piano key stroke. From the middle of the break a new freaky hollow synth melody enters and it will continue all along to the end. With this new sound ruling now the track has changed and is not going back to the pattern found before the break.

B1: Water
A slightly faster BPM and more club beat feeling surround this side. Low ‘overdrive’ piano strokes add some more differentiation to the rhythm part but only to prepare for a very cool riddle with uplifting synths that will lead you into the break. Nice synths and echo choirs draw closer to announce a new melody with ‘brass flute’ sounds. Once the beat is back there is no way returning back. Happy twinkles, a cool melody, and a well constructed rhythm part bring you all the necessary elements to keep on dancing to this track.


Two high quality productions from the great Wippenberg himself. Water sounds most promising and this track could be very well one of those scoring big this summer. A very nice comeback for this artist that has proved himself earlier already with a dozen of remixes.[/b]
