Another new project name for the Belgian producer M.I.K.E., this time under the name Fascinated. M.I.K.E., whose real name is Mike Dierickx, has told in a recent interview that he will focus mainly on his M.I.K.E. project for the coming months, but there is still some room for many side-projects, for example this one. The 'Totally Mix' was already hearable on the latest mixalbum from Armin van Buuren - A State Of Trance 2004 , and it is also signed to the Armind imprint, with the release date very near.
M.I.K.E.'s Totally Mix:
This is the mix that made it to the ASOT 2004. It's a little dark-sounding typical M.I.K.E. track actually. The focus lies on the low and dark sounding underlines of the track. The first minutes Mike introduces some nice and dark synthlines and spacey sounding effects. In the middle of the track it starts sounding somewhat more trancier, with a long breakdown where minimal percussion support the deep melody. The bassline comes back again and the track follows more or less the same path as the first part of the track. A decent mix with a dark drive!
M.I.K.E.'s Fascinated Mix:
This is a totally different mix than the first, a more progressive/dreamy/spacey mix. The BPM is way lower than in the first mix and the bassline is soft and relaxing. Some angelic voice sample is introduced in the first breakdown. The second breakdown is of a total brilliantness when a warm lead sound fades into the track. Some catchy percussion loop is placed throughout the whole track which gives it a funky feel-good touch. Throughout the tune, subtle effects are added so it gradually builds up a nice laid-back trancer of topclass!
In conclusion, the 'Totally Mix' is the standard M.I.K.E. stuff - well-produced but not very surprising. The 'Fascinated Mix' however is a Trance beauty in its purest form and therefore definetly the mix to go for!
