Following the recent success of "Faraday Cage" by Geezk and "All Or Nothing/Darklight" by Tom Green & Kevin Cadd, 40 Degrees unleashes their latest work. Klaus Goulart drops Misty onb us, with remixes from Fabio Stein and Danny Loko.
Goulart last appeared on Factor 4 with "Lead Me Into The Night" and this is in similar vein but with more of a minimal edge to it. As opposed to that tune, this is not technically a vocal track although it has a vocal sample. Its a euphoric trancer with a deep resonating rumble for a bassline and big beats. The main mix comes in two flavours; the Original Mix and Dub Mix varients. The original mix features a nice ethereal vocal sample and classical-like synths which seem to hark back to the halcyon days of 1999. Indeed, I think that's the intention and I think, for the most part, it works. You may go misty-eyed at this cos it is a nice tune with plenty of uplift and minimal drive. Khatish!
The first remix is by Fabio Stein who speeds things up and puts the pedal to the metal. Following his remix of In Power by Organ Donors, this is pure bliss; an epic hard trance version with plenty of grunt with a nod to the days of, yep, 1999. Actually, this is 1999 trance in a 2010 style. And when the main riff comes in, my God. The result is nothing but explosive. I'm pretty sure this will find lots of friends with room in their boxes for this.
The remaining mixes are left to Danny Loko who provides a main remix, a House Feel mix and an Old Skool mix. After the original, dub and Fabio Stein mixes, these mixes take the track down a more housey route; substituting the tranceness with house goodness. Its the main mix that interested me most; with its low-set beats and claustrophobic rumbling b-lines. The House Feel mix slows everything down to about house speed and tries to fit everything into that genre and I was, like the main remix before it, definitely interested in it. Saying that though, there's a few glitch effects in it which make it more intriguing. Once everything gets going, it settles into a nice groover that energises you and makes you want to dance. The Old Skool Feel mix continues the trend set up by the House Feel mix but moves in a more breaks-oriented direction; using the same sounds and structure. For something different, whack this remix on.
