I don't know how anyone can attempt producing without having a genre in mind since each one has a different build,middle and finish method.
Some people spend years in school learning music production,it's not as easy as it seems.
My advice do a lot of reading and during that phase produce for yourself and be your own judge till you be able to make a full track covering all the aspects of the EMD tune basics and can imagine others listening to it without skipping or smacking their head into the wall.

was just trying to make a good lead :S
and applied a melody to it just to it to see how it sounds.
as u may have noticed some other elements arent even layered samples, they are just one sample with a bit of effect.

btw i have a genre in mind, and honestly not rlly considering bein pro at it or takin it seriously, and thts not actually it. I was just tryin to do smthn hardtrance-ish, and ended up with this..

im sry if i sounded a bit kiddy, i was just havin a bit of fun like its title says. I just never rlly listened to any trance music, when i started listenin to electonic music like 4 years ago, i started with hardstyle and from then i been studyin how to produce that kinda genre, so sry if i gave any kiddy impression.

Nice strings ... but the shifts are a little too fast. Add a little reverb.

Piano ... EQ that bad-boy, it sounds too plastic, drop a bit of the higher frequencies. Fix the 3k area.

Speaking of a 'hard-trance' point-of-view (which i'm not familliar with) ... I guess the melody sounds alright. For the lead synth, add a bit of reverb & put a +2dB gain on 9kHz, also ... make sure the lead doesn't contain too much of the bass frequencies (~250Hz) because you would want to let the actual bassline have its own space.
