Hey TH'ers,

I've posted a couple of sets by my friend a while back, some of you liked it a lot. Can't exactly remember who, but yeah ... this one's his latest addition. Its already been getting a great response from my city as well the nation itself. The mix is a collection of tracks that he's been recently digging as well as playing out throughout the nation in his gigs, it'll go from the more deeper to the techy-er and finishing off with the more proggy-er stuff. Also features a current production of his ( Track 08 ). Keep an eye out for that. Its in the talks with some labels. Two of his productions will see the daylight in December 2008 & February 2009, so look out.

As for the mix, I believe the it speaks for itself and I really hope you enjoy it too.

Indeed. The Patch Park remix is just absolutely brilliant! Love it. Original one deserves the same in its own right too!

Do check the mix out.

Alright so I gave this one a listen, and i have to say its a quality mix. But unlike what he tagged his set, this isnt 'Tech House' its 'Proggie' , nevertheless what matters is the end product! He didnt take long before he kicked in those proggie sounds, well worked synth and rigorous basslines. The only issue I can say is that the mix didnt build energy as fast as I expected, it mainted a solid tempo through, slowly increasing at the most, but thats okay since it was very melodic at times. I like his production, melodic and good synth work, I hope he does get it signed. I can see why a set like this isnt everyone's cup of tea, but it surely makes it to my ipod any day of the week! A couple of questions, how long has you friend been djing for, what equipment does he use? and hows the scene like in india for such a genre?

Thx for sharing!

Hey [IN]Head-Kay (btw, can you suggest a shorter form to call you by?).

Well, it wasn't really tagged as "Tech" than "Proggy" towards the end. Sure, the whole thing is a proggy, but the sounds are from deep->tech->proggy. His idea was to maintain a nice bouncey feel and then kick it in during the final few minutes instead of going full on from the start, so I'm gonna guess that the plan went accordingly. Plus, he's more of a Progressive person.

With regards to the production. Its a track done by him (& I slightly helped). Its also in talks of being signed, just waiting for the contract.

As for your questions:

1. How long has your friend been djing for, what equipment does he use?
Quite a while now, maybe a few years or more. Don't really remember the numbers. But this set isn't exactly his area, it actually took longer than usual. You can check his previous mixes on his site, particularly "Progression IV". As for the equipment, he started off with normal dual deck mixing and now he's moved onto Ableton with midi controllers.

2. How's the scene like in india for such a genre?

India's a huge country, the scene is different in each city. Sometimes there are even rules for clubbing (1am shutdown), which kind of destroys a lot of the scene. As for the music, a lot of it is the usual house / electro. Nowadays people here are into "noise" techno, if you know what I mean, without a flow. It kills me to know that they're just blabbering with their music instead of doing it right. And for this kind of genre, He's the only one in India who's actually doing this genre justice. The spam amount of DJ's here do not know the difference between Big Room vs Small Room.

The scene needs improvement, but it's getting there. Wherever you are, people need to recognize & promote quality than 'name'. I'm sure you agree with me too.

Thanks again for the critical constructive criticism.

p.s: You're set's gone into my ipod too. Lol.

You can just call me Kay like most people do :P Thanks for your answers, i agree with you on the way the set moved from deep to tech to proggie. He kept it nice and easy for the most part and went all out proggie in the final 20 minutes or so, I like the build-up alot, shows his understanding of proggie, and he does it right. A really good production, after hearing it the second time, and its great to know you had a part in it as well, well done mate!

Cheers for answering my questions, I had a feeling that the set was Ableton-ised, I can tell there were some external samples and fx added to some tracks that Abelton allows you to do perfectly.

And its like that all over man unfortunatly, its the same here in Lebanon, cheesy music and cheesy crowds with no understanding of good music whatsover. I blame it on the DJs and radio stations. :P But it takes a good DJ to spark and inspire other DJs, and if what your saying is that case that there isnt many quality DJs who do this genre well then Tanseer might inspire new upcomming DJs to follow suit.

Cheers for having my set on your ipod mate, im glad someone with a good music taste like yours liked it!
