[IN]Head-Kay - Kay-Ville 010 : Tribute to Aciieed:
When DJ Pierre, Earl "Spanky" Smith Jr, Ron Hardy, and some bloke called Marshall Jefferson were spinning and producing tracks like there was no tomorrow using a 909, 606, 303 and that odd sampler, people thought it was rubbish music. They dubbed it as a failure, and nothing but repetitive psycho-acoustic junk. However, in the depth of all this commotion, a wild underground movement was bieng born in places like the Music Box, where a certain Mr. Hardy played Phuture's 'Acid Trax', which is widely considered to be the first acid house track ever, four times in one night!
The movement soon crossed the atlantic to London, and solidified its presence in the famous 'Second Summer of Love'. Under increasing pressure from the police, the movement went totally underground and became fully illegal, until it peaked on one wild night in September 1989 where more than 18000 ravers formed what is now considered to be the wildest acid house party ever to be held, that spanned the space of two days! It was all over the papers the next day, and acid became a worlwide phenomena!
In this special episode of Kay-Ville, I aim to go back in time to those magical times and showcase some of the vibes that were going on at that time. These arent necessarily the biggest tracks of the time, but they were tracks that were considered instrumental in making the genre the movement it became. Enjoy this one!
