Zidane's "Red Card" mystery almost revieled

Well I found this on Yahoo!'s online Sports news PLUS it was headlined on the site itself.

Seconds before, Materazzi had grabbed a handful of Zidane's jersey just as a French attack on goal passed harmlessly by. The two exchanged words as they walked back up the field, well behind the play. Then, without warning, Zidane spun around, lowered his head and rammed Materazzi, knocking him to the ground.

The Paris-based anti-racism advocacy group SOS-Racism issued a statement Monday quoting "several very well informed sources from the world of football" as saying Materazzi called Zidane a [b]"dirty terrorist." It demanded that FIFA, soccer's world governing body, investigate and take any appropriate action.

Materazzi, meanwhile, was quoted as denying the terrorist comment.

"It is absolutely not true, I didn't call him a terrorist, I don't know anything about that," the Italian news agency ANSA quoted Materazzi as saying when he arrived with his team at an Italian military airfield.

"What happened is what all the world saw live on TV," the Italian player said, referring to the head-butting. [/b]

Zidane's agent, Alain Migliaccio, was quoted by the BBC as saying the France captain told him the Italian "said something very serious to him, but he wouldn't tell me what."

Whatever it was, it was enough to infuriate Zidane.

Now this is the shocking part!

Zidane, who came out of retirement to help France qualify for the World Cup and said he would quit soccer completely after the tournament, got 2,012 points in the vote by journalists covering the tournament. The three-time player of the year beat Fabio Cannavaro (1,977) and Andrea Pirlo (715), both of Italy.

WHAT THE HELL???
He only played a couple of matches and he gets higher votes than Cannavaro???? You must be kidding me!!!!!
Don't come 'n tell me he's the greatest player alive! There's a friggin' difference between being the best player and the best player of the World Cup this year!
Cannavaro is by far the best player in the cup. What would've Italy done without him?


I rest my case!
FIFA gave Zidane that award to make him go home with a smile on his face. It's more like "Yalla 7ebebe khod khod. Mabsoot halla2? Badak shi tene? 3a rasi wallah! Bo2loblak el stadium law badak kemen!!"

& yet another football topic ...

modern football is all abt defence...this world cup has been all abt defenders & midfielders...italy 4 example has 2 best scorers 1 of them is materazzi!!!all the teams & football schools have been focusing much more lately on avoiding goals rather than score them...perhaps fifa wanted 2 give the award 4 a playmaker an artist with the ball 2 give a push 2 the offensive aspect of football...isnt it enough that a goalkeeper got the award in 2002(kahn)...if it was awarded 2 cannavaro it would really prove that football lost all its offensive flavor...now i m not askin from the teams 2 play in a 2-3-5 configuration like in the early days of football & score 7 goals in every match...but i think that an average of 2.5 goals a game is just 2 low...cannavaro was 1 of the best players in this world cup so was pirlo & vieira & zidane...all of them deserved this award...but voting started b4 the final & i guess all voters were influenced by the fact that zidane was leaving the world of football & that he was the leader of this team & the reason of its improvment throughout this world cup...so ppl instead of puttin ur personal thoughts in this issue u have 2 congratulate zidane 4 this world cup he has done...coz he has done a huge work & did huge per4mances...& whether u want it or not strikers & offensive midfielders always get more highlight than defenders & goalkeepers...sorry 2 disagree with u crow but zidane performed extremely well in this world cup...
