blekh... The Spanish are such divers, and they don't even do it with style! cant believe they always blame this behavior on Italy…
Anyway the crucial shots have spoken, and Spain might have deserved it after all..(at least the Italian didn’t from my view)

When is Toni's night finally coming?
Hopefully Donadoni is stepping down to give back the team for Lippi

Euro 08 is so overrated anyway, who needs Europe when U are champion of the world? :mrgreen:

Italy 0 - Spain 0 (2-4 on PK)

By far the less entertaining game of these quarter-finals...two words can describe it: Lock-Down...both teams were reluctant to take the risk and attack the opponent's goal...but it was Spain that worked the hardest upfront...the first half didn't witness too many opportunities with Spain having the biggest share of these chances...David Silva had a couple of strikes but with Villa and Torres clashing with an excellent Chiellini it would be hard for the Spaniards to find the gap and hit the goal...as for Italy you could clearly see the impact of Pirlo's absence...with already Toni upfront being a waste of oxygen in the previous games and without someone delivering the ball correctly to him it seemed like just another game spent in front of the Spanish goal just staring at the defenders pushing back the ball...it was a prolific night for the Spanish defense with the pair Puyol-Marchena being rock solid and Sergio Ramos finally delivering a good performance...to the second half that got a little bit more active and was almost costly to the Spanish when on a defensive mix-up Camoranesi almost shocked the Iberians but Casillas delivered a monster save on the lone Italian occasion...as for the midfield Aragones clearly saw that Iniesta and Xavi were not having the greatest of nights and were subsequently replaced with Fabregas and Cazorla...the first one delivered well as for Cazorla you could see that he ran a lot but with no plausible impact on the game...Marcos Senna had a very good game in the midfield and jeopardized the Italian goal with a couple of strikes one of those strikes was badly negotiated by Buffon but with no further implication...with Torres being marginalized by the Italian defense Aragones sent in Guiza for him who had a couple of strikes but couldn't knock-out the game...to extra-time where both teams were very careful not to concede a goal in the first place and aside a couple of Spanish attempts the game was heading to penalties...a little word on the Italians... their defense got better as the games were played and tonight was by far their best performance...with the exception of Grosso who had troubles containing David Silva the rest of the defenders were in a good day and did their work to perfection especially Chiellini the biggest Italian revelation of this Euro...I expected more from the Roma midfielders...De Rossi played well on the defensive end but brought nothing offensively...I demanded that Aquilani played tonight...he played but did virtually nothing...he is still young and it will take a lot of time to fill Pirlo's shoes...Perrotta was assigned to an unusual playmaker position and couldn't provide much offensive contribution despite endless runnings...Ambrosini also delivered a proper defensive game but couldn't contribute to the team's offensive game...and that was the problem of this Italian midfield...without Pirlo this midfield's job is just defending and has no technicity whatsoever...Cassano also failed during this whole Euro to be the difference and playing next to Luca Toni didn't help...

To the penalties where Casillas was the undisputed hero by saving De Rossi's and De Natale's kicks...Buffon contributed with a save on Guiza's shot but that wasn't enough to prevail the Spanish qualification...Spain rightfully deserved to move on to the semis and face a different team of Russia in what promises to be a more than spectacular game...

Donadoni will pay the price of the Squadra's bad performance and truth be told this Italian team was one of the most mediocre Squadras we've seen in a long time...no creativity and no steadiness...this team is at crossroads now...a new generation will take over now and with most probably a new coach hopefully this team will be able to get back on track with some sound performances...

Aragones will be now facing a Russian team the Spaniards defeated 4-1 in the first round(thank you for this idiotic concept mr Platini)...but Russia are a different team now with Arshavin and can knock-out the Spanish team(if they play the way they did against Netherlands you cannot call it a surprise anymore if they defeat Casillas and his boys)
