I'm so glad that Kaka refused! I already loved and respected him a lot although he plays for Milan (Juve fan here ) but now he deserves that even more.
Kaka >>>>> C. Ronaldo in everything for me! :D

As for tarantula's article, i agree, money does ruin football and i wish things didn't look like that. But that's just an opinion of a pure football lover, a purist...

u all are a bunch of muppets!!!

Kaka is just as much a mercenary as 99.9% of fotballers.... he is no Maldini, nor is he a Gerrard, or Batistuta and he definately is no del piero.

one of the various reasons the whole thing fell through is due to a disagreement over Kaka's weekly salary.

Bronko you are perfectly right in everything you said. Football has become an industry that thousands of people live on everywhere in the world. But let's face it when a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona or a Premier League big four is in debt because of the exorbitant amounts of money invested on players, something looks very wrong. Money is ruining football because it's ruining whole generations of young players who leave their countries and home clubs prematurely in search of more cash. And now in every league you simply have 4 or 5 clubs that play for the championship and the remaining 15 teams just entertain them for TV rights. Long are gone the days where Chievo Verona would take the 1st place in the Serie for a few weeks A the first season out of the lower division, and Kaiserslautern shocking Germany by winning the Bundesliga straight out of the lower divisions as well (Hoffenheim happen to be a very rich club but with a smart plan to build a good team unlike Man City). And the problem is: it's everywhere! Lyon have been winning for 7 straight years because they have much more money than any other French club and can afford to have 2 world-class players for each position unlike the other clubs who are immediately crippled when a star player is down.

According to a recent study, the Liga clubs combined have a debt of over 3 Billion Dollars. Real Madrid are in a state of bankruptcy and should be liquidated, but for some reason they still can afford to match Man City's offer for Kaka, that's plain ridiculous. Teams invest money they don't have and I honestly do not see Kaka contributing much in relieving the club from its astronomic club (Blame Florentino Perez for starting this ugly galacticos trend that didn't make it more than 2 years). How long will the clubs sustain the financial burden that is starting to affect every single team out there (UD Levante players were not paid for quite a few months last year). So to sum things up the little teams will keep suffering and keep entertaining the big teams for crumbs. So much for football being a fair game.

As for the Premier League I doubt there are 20 foreign investors to invest in every club and make them the next big thing. Fact is, many investors are trying to off-load their teams, such as West Ham or Mohammad El Fayed and Fulham, rumor has it that Chelsea players are paying for their own lunches. But all these clubs will rebound one way or another, they always do (Only Leeds United paid the price of poor performances and investments).

Finally a little thank you to a few teams out there: Genoa, Aston Villa, Deportivo La Coruna and Rennes. Teams that are fighting for Champions' League spots in their countries with relatively modest budgets compared to the other big guns.

As for Man City my message would be: bring Nigel De Jong ,be patient enough and next year go all in on David Villa.

And please Michel Platini: SET A SALARY CAP!!!

Welcome to DJ.Malaria you may wonder why I called this group Dj Malaria.
Just like Malaria takes over a person's body when it hits them i want my music's originality to control the soul of whoever hears it in that sense my music is more powerful than Malaria, and I'm sure it will but in a positive way of
course.

^agree with all the above: my cynicism was that it AINT gonna happen. so we just accept it. Man U is planning to sell name on jersey for 20mil pounds. .so peopel are still investing

and btw A-Cube: we lebanese have proven this better than anyone: YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE MONEY TO SPEND MONEY!!!! ;) fact of life!!! and i love De Jong as a HSV fan but he's waijting around for more cash (and why not!!!!).

Is it fair??? absolutely not, but look at Formula 1? 2 MAX 3 teams compete and thats it. Salary cap will NEVER happen because all the owners that own "BRANDS" will sell off. it would be the worst thing to happen to them. Though I agree there should be some limit.

and NS is right. Kaka ain't no hero--that deal fell apart because once the amount was made public, once the fans in Milan flipped out at the thought of Kaka potentiall8y leaving and made so much noise about, Berlusconi backed out and made himself look like a hero. The man is UNBELIEVABLE: he's utterly sexist, totally racist, completely corrupt on every single financial and political level, yet with HUUUUGE 80% approval rating, even though his country is the BUTTHOLE of Western Europe (sorry Italy fans, but its true, its barely not 3rd world)

Kaka.. kaka.. kaka

who gives a crap about that twat?

When he can score like that when he's 34 then I'll probably start considering him as one of the top flight players -

The day Scholes and Giggs quit United (and football) will be a sad sad day.

Kaka my arse!

Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are legends, and Kaka is nowhere near achieving half of what they have achieved, and those guys have been doing it for years now, on a relatively modest, well-deserved wage. Gary Neville, too.
Compare those three to Cashley the cunt Cole, who got in a wage dispute at Arsenal, or Adebayor, who said he deserved the same wages as Henry after one good, but trophyless season... bah...

Screw the wage. Why does anyone need a 250k/week wage for a kicking a damn ball? Few are the teams that compete in the FA, Carling, Premier League and Champions League all together. There are elimination stages for all those except the Premier. So unless they're playing on four fronts, they play one match/week! So it's literally throwing money at young men for kicking a ball for 90 minutes!

Football player are just like Hollywood actors... Hardly any education, good looks/football skills, huge fan base and there you go - your pension sorted and you're a millionaire before you're 30.

Bleh... go play some rugby and eat some mud.

Ashley Cole is a fucker, he was raised by Arsenal and this is how he treated them. I lost all my respect to him after what he did for petrodollars.

Adebayor... i like this player a lot but he's still very very very very very far from achieving what Henry achieved and he has no right to say that he deserves the same wages as Henry!

UEFA and the clubs for a transfer limit
After Manchester City was ready to give AC Milan more than 100 million euros for Kaka the biggest European clubs and UEFA began talks about introducing a transfer limit for players.

The Association of European Clubs that is represented by Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan among others proposed their idea that the maximum amount a club can give for a new player must not exceed 51% of the club's annual revenue.

"Talks are at the beginning. There will be a more detailed analysis during next month's AEC meeting" - one representative said.

AEC proposed that the revenue should include all the sales from tickets, souvenirs and TV rights and from sponsorships.

"The earnings of owners and main shareholders should be invested in the infrastructure of the club or the training of young players" - UEFA said.
