Fady Ferraye
http://www.b018.com
His music career began at an early age , when he started collecting vinyls at the age of 10 , developing a distinct passion for Underground music , Progressive and psychedelic Rock , Goth , Metal , Jazz fusion , New Wave ( Depeche Mode , Japan , Talk talk ...) and 70's German electronic music ( Kraftwerk , Tangerine Dream , Klaus schulze and Ashra tempel ) .
He began djing at school parties in 1984 , playing new wave and all that was big during that period . When House Music came , He became fascinated by the early Chicago , Detroit and belgium scene which was mainly influenced by the famous German 70's electronic act , Kraftwerk then came acid house and the rest is history .....
In late summer 2000 , he became B018's resident dj , influenced by the club's eerie David Lynchan atmosphere , He played dark prog long tripped sets which builds up slowly with deep dark tech-edged progressive house , and ends up with breaks and orgasmic techno . That definitive blend of different House and electronic styles has firmly established him as one of the main leaders of the Lebanese and Middle Eastern Progressive dance scene .
" Many Local and international djs are pigeon holed into a genre of music , leaning towards a particular style and musical range " , Fady says , but on the contrary I like to cross boundaries and surprise the crowd , tease them and excite them , that definitely makes my sound impossible to categorize , and this is what we all should call the true Progressive thinkin and the true progressive House , and even in producing music I like to remix rock , jazz or world music tracks more than any other style , so far I did remixes for Lebanese Jazz musician Toufic Farroukh , Lebanese-Armenian New age artist Guy Manoukian , Lebanese Rock band The Kordz , and Sarah Brightman .
Alongside his residency at B018 , he played alongside many international djs in Beirut such as Dave Seaman , Sander Kleinenberg , Pete Gooding , Marco V , Judge Jules , Deep Dish , Harry Borg , Smight , Paul Oakenfold , Kid Loco , Hisham Samawi , Ali Ajami , Tempa and other . Sharam from Deep dish named him as the 1st dj to surprise him in many years and the best in Lebanon .
He started producing under the name Moonfish , 4 of his tracks were released so far , 2 on major label ( Emi ) , 1 on Harmonia Mundi ( french electronic , world , classic and jazz label ) , and 1 on a Lebanese # 1 independent rock label ,Mass records .
Currently a number of new productions are on their way to be released in 2005 as well as the first ever and long awaited dbl mixed B018 's compilation .
A new dark prog track called Psycho Kinetic Moon , a new project with dj/producer Ali Ajami , another one with Charles 7 on a track called Tempted which is one of the most important tunes played at B018 at the moment , promise to an exciting future .
