I'm not sure if I started a topic about this a long time ago... But if I did, I think my choices have changed a bit.
I'm stuck between 2 choices:
Nissan Murano 2009 (New) vs. BMW X5 at least 2005 (Used)
I currently own a BMW X5 2001 model that has been driven for 200k+ kilometers. This old hag is slowly dying even though the conditions are not extremely bad. But it reached a point where you can't really drive above 120 kmph in order to be safe. 120 might seem too fast but not in the UAE LOL. The breaks are getting fucked and the suspensions are a mess!
I want a 4x4 by all means and something that would live-on with me. I also want facilities and full options. The Nissan Murano's 2009 model features the following:
* GPS with latest Middle East maps
* Electric seats with leather
* Front & rear cameras with sensors for parking
* Bluetooth connectivity with phones
* AUX out for mp3 players
* Beautiful dashboard compared to the 2008 model
* One button push for back seats to turn into beds
* Keyless entry
* Bosse sound system
And many more....
The seats are AWESOME!! So comfortable. It's much smaller than the X5 too which is good due to parking problems in Abu Dhabi & Dubai.
Performance wise... X5 beats the new Murano. I'm sure! And it would live on longer, true?
EDIT: I have to add that I am constantly being mobilized between the construction site office and the head office. Therefore, a lot of mileage will be rolling constantly along with fuel . Which also means I will go on and off road pretty much everyday.
The X5 I'm driving has a small engine. I think it's 3.1 (I'm really bad with cars' specs and what they mean), so I guess that's the smallest engine for the X5. And a full tank will give me around 650 kms to drive. 660 tops.
One thing I also acknowledge is that driving a BMW is different from driving other cars. BMW's are more "fun" to drive. And one of the reasons that's true is due to the loose feel the steering wheel has which many cars don't have.
