It all depends on what you call a typical progressive trance track. Back in 1998 Airwave was considered as progressive trance producer...

I believe it's House-influenced Trance: its structure is very similar to House, but the Trance feeling is all over it, and it constitutes a larger part of the track than the structure. But still, sometimes it gets so close to Progressive House that you find a hard time telling the difference!
Phoenecian what about today? Isn't he still a Progressive Trance producer? (with some melodic tendencies...)

I don't think progressive trance or progressive house are related in the sense that one originated from the other. It's simply because lately so many styles are overlapping that people tend to mix them up or claim that one was there before the other. I don't see the point of this discussion anyways! In the early 90's literally everything with a beat was called House. Then people started talking about techno or trance and the rest of the story is as we know it today. House nowadays means something totally different than house back in 1993 for example. Plus these days everything is called progressive! Even tribal stuff is being categorized as progressive. It just shows you that defining styles has become useless and we will arrive in an era again where all electronic dance genres can be put under one name again since they all take typical aspects from eachother and since more and more DJ's have the tendancy to mix up or switch styles from time to time. And that's a good evolution. Wouldn't want to see any rivalry between certain styles. That's plainly lame...
And in reply to Dionysos. Airwave will always remain progressive to me ;-)

Just listen to Antidote tracks and you'll hear that Laurent is a progressive master...
